With the inclusion of the new HyperMotion technology in the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of FIFA 22, the AI’s attacking runs are even more powerful than before. As such, you may likely be wondering how to initiate attacking runs in FIFA 22, also referred to in the game as ‘Calling for Support.’ Here’s everything you need to know on how to initiate attacking runs and how you can use them effectively.
Initiating Attacking Runs in FIFA 22
To initiate an attacking run, when you’ve got possession of the ball, simply press RB/ R1. This will cause one of your teammates to try and make a run up the pitch near to you, giving you an out-ball to press further up the field.
This is actually called ‘Call for Support’ in the game’s Controller Settings menus, but this is what you’re primarily going to be using it for.
Specifically, we’ve found it to be very effective when trying to break through the final line of an opponent’s defense. Try and lure one of your opposition’s defenders towards your player in possession of the ball, then press RB/ R1, wait for the player to just be on-side and then play a through ball (Y/ Triangle).
If you get it right — and your player has a good passing stat — the player making the attacking run will find themselves in acres of space, often in a 1v1 scenario with the keeper. Now it’s simply down to you to finish off the chance, either with a low driven or finesse shot, or even a flair shot if you’re feeling particularly cocky.
That’s everything you need to know on how to initiate attacking runs in FIFA 22. For more tips, tricks and guides, head over to our wiki, or see more of our coverage on the game below.
