FIFA 20 Summer Showdown SBCs Explained

Summer Showdown will happen once a week for the duration of this promo, and maybe longer, and will focus on one real world match from the same week.

A player from each team will then have a boosted SBC released. How much it’s boosted, that’s up to EA, but it will be significant.

Then, the winner of the real world match will be upgraded by three overall, on top of the initial boost, and the loser will remain the same. If the teams draw, both cards will get a one overall upgrade. We can use the first Summer Showdown release as an example.

On June 22, two SBCs for Bayer Leverkusen vs. Mainz were released: one for Jean-Paul Boëtius (Mainz) and one for Moussa Diaby (Bayer Leverkusen). You can see the cards below.

Both have been upgraded to 92 overall and one or both will get an additional upgrade once the match happens on June 27. The winner will go to 95 overall and the loser will stay the same.

The Summer Showdown cards will automatically upgrade and you can complete both of them if you wanted, so that you’re guaranteed to get the better card. Also, both squads only require an 84 rated squad, so they’re pretty easy to get.

The same structure will then be used for more matchups later in the summer as the promo continues.
