Who the Best LB (Left Back) Is in FIFA 18 Ultimate Team
Strikers aren’t the only players that matter in FIFA 18. While goalscorers get most of the limelight, full backs can be just as important going forward as they are in defense. They can break opposition lines with intelligent runs, can produce crosses for strikers, and can even chip in with a goal here or there. To take advantage of the opportunities Left Backs (LB) offer, you’re going to want to know which player is the best for your team.
The best player in terms of stats alone is a recent addition to the game. Team of the Year Marcelo (Real Madrid) is 94 rated, is fast (90 pace), a great defender (92 Defending), and a competent attacker (95 Dribbling). He may be expensive at around 900k coins on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but he is pound for pound the best LB on the game.
However, Marcelo may not fit into your team if you’re without other La Liga Santander (Spain) players or David Luiz/Thiago Silva at CB to link to. If you need chemistry links no matter what team you have, and a lot of coins, Icon Roberto Carlos (in any of his three forms) is the best option. His card is phenomenally well-rounded and he would be as perfectly suited at ST as he would be at LB, were FIFA’s chemistry rules to allow it. For his Prime version, you can expect to pay upwards of one million coins to buy him or to complete the SBC, but he will fit in whatever team you have and you’ll have a deadly free-kick taker.
At the next scale down, you have three LB options, each of whom fit in teams based around different leagues. David Alaba (Bayern Munich), Alex Sandro (Juventus), or Jordi Alba (Barcelona) are all great options, with the first two costing about 90k and Alba costing just under 30k. Sandro is the most used at the time of writing, with players using his card for nearly 12 million matches, and he is the choice for many. He fits alongside Brazilian CBs and Calcio A players (Italy) such as Koulibaly (Napoli) and Miranda (Inter Milan).
Alaba fits into Bundesliga teams perfectly but many people fit him into Premier League teams by using the threesome of Jerome Boateng (Bayern Munich), Arturo Vidal (Bayern Munich), and Alaba himself. In most formations, all three of them get full chemistry even when they get no other links. All three of them are strong players, Boateng being one of the best CBs in the game, that fit into teams excellently. Finally, Alba is good for La Liga teams, above the normal version of Marcelo, and is above the rest due to his impressive 93 pace.
Of course, if you’re on a budget, players like In-form Ashley Young, Danny Rose, and Jordan Lukaku are great for certain teams.
