How to Get Nuke Codes in Fallout 76

Recommended Videos

One of the running themes in the Fallout series is the idea of exploring a post-nuclear exposed world. While Fallout 76 is an online-focused game, it shares a lot of its DNA of recent Fallout games. Fittingly, you are able to launch your own nuke if you so choose, and we’re here to help you get nuke codes in Fallout 76. But before doing so, there are a few main steps you must take:

  • Gather nuke codes (silo codes)
  • Access silos
  • Enter the control room

Here we will be covering step one, how to get nuke codes. The main thing you must know is that nuke codes are found by looting either Scorched Officers or Feral Ghoul Officers. You can kill them and loot their bodies, or just loot ones that are already dead.

The nice thing is that the Scorched Officers or Feral Ghoul Officers have distinct features that will help you recognize them. For one, they wear backpacks with a big flashing red antenna on it. You’ll notice that upon getting close to an officer, the antenna will beep and flash.

You might have luck finding these enemies in:

  • Grafton in Toxic Valley
  • Mount Blair in Ash Heap
  • Uncanny Caverns in the Forest
  • Abbie’s Bunker in the Mire

Upon looting the body, you’ll be rewarded with a random nuke code fragment, containing a letter and number. These codes pertain to one of three silos, Alpha, Bravo, and… you guessed it, Charlie. Thankfully, once you find a code, the silo will show up on your map.

The tricky part is that you need eight nuke codes for a specific silo. For example, if you have seven codes for Alpha silo and then find a code for Bravo, you’ll still need that last Alpha code to gain access to that silo.

Also, keep in mind that these codes expire after a week, so you must be somewhat quick about finding them. It’s a way to balance the game.

Once you find all eight codes for that silo, you can start the next step in creating a nuke, accessing the silo. If you need a video guide to help you out, PC Gamer also has a pretty handy one you can refer to.

And that’s all you need to know about how to get nuke codes in Fallout 76. Be sure to check our Fallout 76 guide wiki for more tips and information on the game as well. If you have any questions, feel free to sound off in the comments down below and we’ll try to get back to you as soon as we can.
