Fallout 76 sees players return to the wastelands once more to reclaim West Virginia. Although Fallout 76 is online, there are still parts of the classic single-player games that are present. Traps return, and if you’re here, you’re probably wondering how to disarm traps in Fallout 76.

Traps have been a reoccurring nuisance for Fallout players for a while now. Littered around the wasteland, traps will deal severe crippling damage to players that trip them accidentally.

There are few things more demoralizing in the Fallout world than having a nice gameplay session derailed by accidentally walking into a mine, or setting off a noise trap that notifies an entire area to your whereabouts.

Traps in Fallout 76 can be a bunch of tin cans hanging from the ceiling or something to alert enemies that you’re approaching. Or sometimes they are more violent and could take the form of spike traps on the floor, or trip mines.

Luckily, you’re not forced to wander around hoping that you don’t run into them. You can be proactive about disabling them so you can continue to explore freely without the potential for disaster.

Disarming traps in Fallout 76 is pretty easy, you just need to be attentive. To disarm a trap, simply approach one that is visible to you, and press X/A (PlayStation 4 / Xbox One) when prompted. That’s it! Simple as that.

This will safely disable the trap so you don’t get blown into smithereens, which is objectively a good thing. You can, of course, just avoid them, but just remember not to backtrack into them later on.

That’s all you need to know for how to disarm traps in Fallout 76. For more information, tips, tricks, and frequently asked questions answered, be sure to check out our Fallout 76 wiki guide. Best of luck out there in the West Virginia wastelands!
