How to Get Magic Scorpion Charm

Elden Ring: How to Get Magic Scorpion Charm, & What It Does

FromSoftware RPGs have always featured spellcasting and sorcery, but if you like magic-style builds then Elden Ring takes things to a whole new level. There’s a huge range of different spells and incantations, as well as all manner of different staffs, seals, and magical outfits to wear. Also, various accessories that enhance your character’s abilities in unique ways. Some of them, however, aren’t easy to get hold of — especially when they are a part of complex questlines. Here’s how to get the Magic Scorpion Charm in Elden Ring, and what it does if you’re unsure whether it’s worth sinking the time into finding.

As you may have guessed from the above intro there, getting the Magic Scorpion Charm is a convoluted process that takes quite a bit of time and quite a bit of back and forth. It’s an item that you can only get by undertaking two different questlines: Ranni the Witch, and Seluvis the Sorcerer.

To make the whole thing easier to understand, we’re going to break down each step below. First, though, here are some things to keep in mind:

  • You will need to have progressed the game to after having beaten Margit, Godrick, and Rennala and to when you can access Ranni’s Rise, which is just north of Carian Manor. Your level should probably be 40+ if you are playing through Elden Ring for the first time.
  • This quest will not be available until you have defeated Margit the Fell Omen, then you have spoken to Nepheli, and then to her father Gideon (exhaust all his dialog regarding Nepheli) at Roundtable Hold; Gideon is in his study, which is only unlocked after speaking with Enia in the room with the Two Fingers, while Nephalia should be just outside it.
  • The purpose of the above is to get Nepheli to relocate to the Village of the Albinaurics, and then help her slay the Omenkiller there. Nepheli will then relocate to Roundtable Hold once again and the questlines you will follow below will all be set up correctly for the events to unfold.
  • If you have not already, go and find the two halves of the Dectus Medallion so that you can travel across the Grand Lift of Dectus (detailed guide here).
  • Do not progress Seluvis’ questline beyond the point detailed in this guide if you want to ally yourself with Ranni, otherwise, she will discover your plot and, well, things don’t end well…

How to Get the Magic Scorpion Charm

Ok, without further ado, let’s get into the walkthrough:

  1. Begin Ranni’s questline by visiting her at Ranni’s Rise.

  2. After Ranni has given you her quest, speak with the three spirits below; importantly, Selivus. Then go and visit him in his tower, which is just south of Ranni’s.

  3. Accept Seluvis’ task to give Nepheli a potion, then return to Roundtable Hold, find her (bottom of the staircase below Master Hewg — if she isn’t there, you have not completed the prerequisites listed above), and exhaust her dialog until she accepts and drinks the potion. While you are here, also speak with Gideon again.

  4. Return to Ranni’s Rise, then travel directly east to find an illusory floor amongst a nearby ruin.

There are many ruins in this area, but you’re looking for one that has a dilapidated archway. Roll just inside the archway and the floor will fade away to reveal a stairwell.

  5. Inside the laboratory below, interact with the puppet of Selivus. The following prompt will appear: “Seluvis’ puppet. Do not touch.”

  6. Now return to Selivus, buy everything he has in his shop, and then talk to him again until he offers you a puppet of your own. After this, reload the area, and he should task you with bringing him Amber Starlight.

If Selivus does not task you with finding Amber Starlight, you may have to purchase his remaining puppets with Starlight Shards until the questline continues.

  7. Travel across the Dectus Lift and then along the road north toward the location you see in the image below (where the red circle is). You are looking for a dark cave (it’s more like a hole in the ground) where you will find the Amber Starlight key item. It’s surrounded by octopus-like enemies, so get in quickly and then make your escape.

  8. Now, finally, go back to Selivus and give him the Amber Starlight. He will hand over the Magic Scorpion Charm as a reward.

What the Magic Scorpion Charm Does
