Diablo 2: Resurrected has arrived and it’s more or less the same game we all know and love from the early 2000s that ruined the sleeping habits of many teens and young adults. If you’re here, though, you might be a newer player wondering how to fast travel in Diablo 2. Maybe you’re wondering if anything has changed in the remaster, or are just rusty and don’t remember. Either way, we’ll go over everything you need to know in this guide.
How to Fast Travel in Diablo 2
You can indeed fast travel in Diablo 2, but it’s not completely free and open like some modern games. You can’t just go to any area you’ve been to before on a whim.
The primary way to fast travel is the waypoint system which should be very familiar to anyone who played any of the Diablo games before. All towns have a waypoint that allows you to warp to other waypoints you have found.
Not all areas in Diablo 2 have a waypoint, but a lot of them do, and usually, it’s enough to cover the majority of areas that you’ll find in any Act.
Areas are randomized, so you’ll need to look around each area to ensure that you found the waypoint, but once you have, interact with it and you’ll have it permanently added to that Act’s main waypoint hub in town.
Aside from that, you can also return to town whenever you want by using a Town Portal Scroll or Tome. You can purchase them from NPCs in town or find them as loot. You can use them whenever you want to open up a portal back to town that you can use to dump items, heal up, or take a quick break.
