Every week Guardians ask themselves the same question: Where is Xur? Xur’s location in Destiny 2 is short lived mystery that is destined to be solved.

Destiny 2 sees the return of Xur, the traveling merchant/servant of the Nine. Each week he brings exotic weapons and armor to the denizens of Destiny 2. You’ll always get a choice of an exotic weapon, and then one piece of exotic armor for each of the three in-game classes, Titan, Warlock and Hunter.

This weekend is a little bit special as it is Christmas time. Veteran Destiny 2 fans have been hating on Xur for a while now since he’s been selling Year One exotics for a long time now.

Maybe, just maybe, this will be the weekend that Xur sells something special. Please don’t hold your breath though. Update: Nope, same old, same old.

Xur can appear in variety of different locations each week. He can either appear conveniently, safely, and sensibly in the Tower in the Hangar.

Or sometimes, for reasons as unknown as his true purpose, he can visit some of the other far more dangerous locales in Destiny 2 such as Io, the EDZ, Nessus, and Titan.

Xur accepts currency in the form of Legendary Shards. Legendary Shards can be obtained by dismantling legendary gear by examining your equipment and then pressing X/Square to break it down into shards.

The best way to get Legendary Shards in case you need them this week, is to grind out tokens that you exchange for gear that can be then broken down into shards. Crucible or Vanguard Strikes work well for this. Alternatively you can complete bounties for Spider which rewards some easy legendary gear if you have the Destiny 2: Forsaken expansion.

Xur will appear on Friday 12 P.M ET. This week he is in the Hangar on the Tower. Here is his location on the map.

This week Xur is selling the Merciless fusion rifle for 29 legendary shards. For Titans, he has Aeon Safe, Hunter he’s got Knucklehead Radar, and finally for Warlocks he’s carrying Apotheosis Veil. All of them are for sale for 23 legendary shards.

And as is usual, he has Five of Swords ready to go for you, and a Fated Engram if you need it for 97 legendary shards.

In the meantime, check out a few helpful articles on the ongoing Dawning Event which will reward you with some great looking cosmetics and useful legendary equipment as well if that is up your alley. By baking cookies and handing them out, you can horde a good amount of enhancement cores.
