Destiny 2 Beyond Light: All New Exotic Weapons & Armor

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Year 4 of Destiny 2 is just about here, and we’re ready to leave the last expansion behind. The next expansion, Destiny 2: Beyond Light will add new exotic weapons and armor, as is tradition now in Bungie’s looter-shooter. If you’re here, you’re probably wondering about what all the new Beyond Light exotic weapons and armor are. Here are all that we know of so far, as of about a month before launch.

Beyond Light New Exotic Weapons

1. No Time To Explain – Pulse Rifle

No Time to Explain is going through a bit of an overhaul since it was released in Destiny 1. The way it will work now is precision hits landed on enemies under the effect of Stasis will return bullets to the magazine.

Also, though, stacking this effect will summon a portal that will shoot bullets at your enemy from an alternate timeline.

As of the time of this writing, it appears that No Time to Explain is limited to those who pre-order Destiny 2: Beyond Light, but presumably it will be released at a later time like past exclusive exotics.

2. Cloudstrike – Sniper Rifle

Cloudstrike, the new exotic sniper rifle being added in Destiny 2: Beyond Light, has serious Thunderlord vibes.

As you use Cloudstrike and land precision final blows, you’ll generate lightning bolts at the target location. If you land final blows rapidly, though, you’ll summon a storm at the point of impact which has been shown to be incredibly powerful in promotional material for Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

There’s no confirmation at the time of this writing on how to obtain the Cloudstrike exotic sniper rifle.

3. The Lament – Sword

The Lament plays right into the current meta of using swords such as Falling Guillotine to chew through champions and other difficult enemies. It is definitely designed for difficult PvE encounters such as Nightfall: The Ordeal and raids since Garden of Salvation.

Blocking with The Lament revs up the blade, which you can then unleash to rip and tear through barrier shields. If you rev it up all the way, damaging enemies will heal the user.

There’s no confirmation at the time of this writing on how to obtain the The Lament exotic sword.

4. Salvation’s Grip – Grenade Launcher

Salvation’s Grip is kind of a way to get the benefits of Stasis by using a weapon, without necessarily having to use a Stasis subclass.

Salvation’s Grip seems pretty straight forward. It’s a grenade launcher that shoots Stasis ammo and, on impact, will create stasis crystals that will freeze nearby targets. You can also charge it up to increase the radius.

There’s no confirmation at the time of this writing on how to obtain Salvation’s Grip exotic grenade launcher.

Beyond Light New Exotic Armor

1. Icefall Mantle Titan Gauntlets

As a Titan main, the Icefall Mantle exotic Titan gauntlets is perhaps the new exotic armor piece releasing in Destiny 2: Beyond Light that I’m most excited about.

This exotic armor will augment your class ability. It will change your barricade to become an overshield instead.

The barricade is arguably the least useful of the three class abilities. The ability to simply throw up an overshield instead will likely be quite useful in situations where you don’t need the utility of a more specialized exotic armor. More HP is always helpful.

There’s no confirmation at the time of this writing on how to obtain the Icefall Mantle Titan Gauntlets.

2. Precious Scars Titan Exotic Helmet

The Precious Scars is an interesting exotic armor piece releasing in Destiny 2: Beyond Light that should have some use both in PvE and Trials of Osiris.

Quite simply, what it does is provide an overshield to the Titan and nearby allies whenever they revive someone. This would not only be helpful in difficult PvE encounters when you need to risk it all for a revive, but also in Trials of Osiris where revives can also be quite precarious.

There’s no confirmation at the time of this writing on how to obtain the Precious Scars Titan Helmet.

3. Mask of Bakris Hunter Helmet

This exotic Hunter armor helmet definitely has lots of players, but especially Destiny veterans, salivating.

The Mask of Bakris will replace the Hunter’s dodge ability with a new Shift ability, which will see the Hunter cloak and reappear in a different location, similar to the old-school Blink ability from the first Destiny game.

Based on the trailer, many believe it may be more powerful than the Warlock’s current Blink ability as it seems to completely negate damage. However, that is currently unconfirmed. Either way, it should be fun to use in PvP.

There’s no confirmation at the time of this writing on how to obtain the Mask of Bakris Hunter Helmet.

4. Athrys’s Embrace Hunter Gauntlets

Bungie is really feeling knives recently in their Destiny 2: Beyond Light promotional material, and this particular piece of exotic armor will continue to play into that fantasy.

What the Athrys’s Embrace does is allow the Hunter’s Weighted Knife to gain a second ricochet. Rapid precision hits will also gain a damage bonus and can temporarily stagger enemies.

There’s no confirmation at the time of this writing on how to obtain the Athrys’s Embrace Hunter Gauntlets.

5. Dawn Chorus Warlock Exotic Helmet

The Dawn of Chorus exotic armor warlock helmet will make the powerful Daybreak super even more deadly when it releases in Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

What Dawn of Chorus does is adds extra damage to Daybreak projectiles and also causes anything it doesn’t kill to start burning. You’ll also gain melee energy any time you do burn damage.

This exotic armor certainly seems geared for PvE as most enemies die in one shot from Daybreak already in PvP.

There’s no confirmation at the time of this writing on how to obtain the Dawn Chorus Warlock Helmet.

6. Necrotic Grip Warlock Gauntlets

The Necrotic Grip is a unique new piece of exotic armor coming in Destiny 2: Beyond Light that has potential to be very deadly.

Its exotic perk sees it augment the Warlock melee ability to place a poison effect on whatever it hits. Defeating enemies corrupted by this poison will spread it to nearby targets and restore melee energy. This should be lots of fun to use on packs of weak enemies such as Goblins and Thralls.

There’s no confirmation at the time of this writing on how to obtain the Necrotic Grip Warlock Gauntlets.

That’s all for now on all Destiny 2: Beyond Light exotics and how to get them. When we have more information about how each of these exotic weapons and armors are dropped, we’ll be sure to update this post.
