Dead Rising 4’s RPG elements aren’t incredibly deep, but they do provide some form of a level and skill system that you’ll want to take advantage of. First things first, it’s important to understand the different points available. First, there are Prestige Points which, when you’ve got enough, will allow you to you level up and provide you with one skill point for you to spend in four different categories. This guide is going to focus on how to get PP and level up quickly, as skill points will be rewarded as a result of doing this.
Unsurprisingly, one of the best ways to get PP in Dead Rising 4 is to simply kill every zombie you see. While this might feel like a bit of a slog on foot, head out to the great outdoors of Willamette and hop in a vehicle. After a short drive around and crushing hundreds upon hundreds of zombies, you’ll have racked up a ton of PP easily and will have made significant progress to reaching the max level cap. It’s also worth noting that if you are on foot and are having to slog your way through a horde, killing zombies in more impressive ways will net you even more points. For example, a normal zombie kill will net you 10 PP, however, performing a critical hit or killing one with your special move will reward you 50 PP. Combine these methods together to boost your level through the roof.
As you’re out and about addressing the main cases that Frank is sent out to go and solve, you’ll come across side quests that, more often than not, require you to fetch something, or to kill some zombies surrounding an NPC. Taking care of these tasks rewards you with a healthy chunk of PP and don’t take too long either. Combine that with the kills you’ll get from completing it and side missions are imperative if you want to hit the level cap.
It’s not just side missions that you should be keeping an eye out for during your travels in Dead Rising 4. Anything that flashes is of importance to you. Collectibles litter the map and all offer a small bit of PP each. If you clear up a bunch of this quickly (which can be done even faster with the help of a map upgrade), you’ll see your PP bar filling up much faster.
Finally, always make sure that you’re making good use of Frank’s trusty camera. It may not initially seem like it holds much value for leveling up, but taking photos of intense or impressive sights such as thousands of zombies literally covering the road for miles will net you some solid points. Combine that up with an additional bonus for taking equally cool selfies and you’ll be making PP hand over fist. Whenever you find yourself saying that something looks cool or pretty terrifying, take the time to snap a shot on Frank’s camera. After all, that’s PP you’re just letting pass you by.
