How to Level Up Fast in Days Gone

Developed by Bend Studio, Days Gone is the latest in the PS4 exclusive lineup, and it’s set in a zombie-infested post-apocalyptic world. Here’s how to level up fast in Days Gone.

While it’s not exactly an RPG, Days Gone does feature an experience system where you gain experience by killing enemies and level up that way. For each skill level you gain, you get a skill point, which can be used to learn a new skill to give you an advantage in the game.

Farming Freakers

One of the riskier, but more enjoyable ways of gaining quick experience is by fighting Hordes. Hordes are basically a large group of Freakers that move together like they’re part of a hive mind.

The game recommends that you only take them on when you have better weapons, but if you don’t mind getting a little roughed up, you can actually try to run over multiple Freakers at once while on your bike. Each kill gets you about 20 experience points, which isn’t the most efficient way of actually leveling up, but this can be repeated easily as long as you have enough Scrap to repair your bike with.

Stealth Kills

As with most games of this type, killing enemies alone isn’t enough to level you up. You’ll also need to be crafty about how you do it.

You’ll gain more experience by landing a stealth kill on a Freaker or human enemy, and you can do this by sneaking up on them and hitting the triangle button.

If you do get caught, though, landing headshots on enemies will also reward you with a bit of extra experience. Again, it’s not much, but it does add up.

Completing Missions

By far the best and quickest way to level up in Days Gone, missions will reward you with a crap ton of experience. Aside from just doing the yellow colored main missions, make sure to do the optional orange camp missions as well.

Every so often, you’ll also see white side missions on your map, which give a good experience. Completing missions will often net you hundreds of experience points, and the optional ones aren’t particularly difficult either, so make sure to do those.

That’s all you need to know about how to level up fast in Days Gone. Be sure to check our Days Gone guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
