How to Beat the Lust Boss Fight in Darksiders 3

Darksiders 3 is finally out, and with it some challenging hack and slash boss fights against the incarnations of the Seven Deadly Sins. If you’re stuck on one covetous boss in particular, we can help with a guide on how to beat the Lust boss fight in Darksiders 3.

Encountered about half way through Darksiders 3, Fury’s confrontation with Lust is deceptively simple at first glance. Like any other enemy, she has tells which the player can use to avoid getting hit and deal out a combo or two for good measure.

Once you enter the boss fight, keep an eye out for which attack she’ll use first. If she pulls her blade in and steps backward, be ready to dodge to the side shortly after she lets out a yell.

If you’re close enough, she’s more likely to use a delayed horizontal slash. Don’t be over eager and wait to dodge until the slight pause after she jumps into the air for a bit.

After dodging either attack, try to get a few hits in with your weapon of choice. Note that it’s safest to stick to three hits maximum so that you can see what her next attack is and dodge accordingly. This doesn’t include counter attacks, which can be unleashed in addition to any regular hits the player can get off.

After a few rounds of this depletes her health below 60 percent, Usiel the Angel commander will enter the fray and be enticed to Lust’s aid. While Lust’s health isn’t restored, this does double the boss fight’s challenge as you’ll have to keep an eye on both bosses at once.

Here, Darksiders 3 players have a choice to make. On one hand, they can kill Usiel and then move onto Lust once again. She hangs back during most of Usiel’s attacks, leaving the Angel commander open for punishment and a quick death.

On the other hand, Darksiders 3 players can spare Usiel and focus on depleting the rest of Lust’s health. This will be more challenging as Usiel hounds the player more intently if they target Lust, but they’ll be rewarded with a trophy for sparing Usiel if they successfully kill only Lust.

How to Kill Usiel and Lust

For Darksiders 3 players who want to kill both, they can use Lust’s lack of interest in defending Usiel to their advantage. When he charges forward to attack you, head to the far side of the arena. He’ll follow and unleash a quick swing with his bell weapon.

Dodge to the right just as the swing comes to the front of his body and you should be able to unleash a counter attack. After this, let loose with four to five hits and get ready for another attack with the bell.

Lust will occasionally charge in toward you, so keep an eye out for her wind-up. Rinse and repeat, and Usiel will fall before long. After he does, refocus your efforts on Lust. Before long, both will be defeated and the boss fight will be complete.

How to Kill only Lust

For Darksiders 3 players who want to kill only Lust, the strategy is a bit more complex. When Usiel charges at you, try to head to the far end of the arena. Once he does this and lets loose a swing, time a dodge to get the counter attack slow motion effect and then head toward Lust.

Doing this should give you slightly more time before Usiel pursues you, and more time to attack Lust. Wait for her to unleash one of her close quarters attacks, and then use a counter dodge and attack. Stick to two or three hit combos afterward, as Usiel should be right on your tail by now.

Rinse and repeat, and before long Lust will be defeated while Usiel is left alive. The trophy “For Whom the Bell Tolls” should prompt shortly after.

Hopefully, this helps you figure out how to beat the Lust boss fight. Darksiders 3 is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. For more on all things Darksiders 3, check out the game’s launch trailer as well as our full review of the game.
