Dark Souls III will require you to learn and master all of the abilities at your disposal pretty darn quickly, including spells and magic. Here’s how to use magic spells in Dark Souls III.
The first thing to take note of when using spells is that if you intend on using them a lot, you should make sure that you’ve tuned your character’s stats suitably to reflect this.
In order to actually use spells and magic, you’ll need either a Talisman or Chimes for casting Miracles, a Staff or Catalyst for Sorcery, and Flames for Pyromancy. Once you’ve acquired one of these items, head to a bonfire and choose ‘Attune Spell.’ Then, put your magical item in your off hand, normally your left, and put whichever spell you want to use in the top active slot.
Once you’ve attuned your spell at the bonfire, exit out and give it a try. All you have to do is hit L1/ LB and you should be able to cast a spell. In order to cast the Talisman, Chimes, Staff, or Catalyst power, you’ll simply use L2/ LT.
And that’s all there is to using spells and magic in Dark Souls III. Be sure to check out our Dark Souls III wiki for more tips and tricks.
