Whether it be for leveling up, upgrading weapons, or buying items; souls are a precious commodity in Dark Souls III. But actually plaything through the game is a risk for your hard-earned souls – two wrong deaths and they’re gone forever. Why risk it? For players looking to reliably farm thousands of souls consistently, look no further.
Note: To make the most of farming, equip both the Shield of Want and the Covetous Serpent Ring to maximize the amount of souls gathered.
Mid-Game Farming Spot
Once you have access to Farron Keep, playthrough the area until you’ve lit the bonfire located at the Farron Ruins. This is key for players in the mid-game.
From the bonfire, advance through the door and take a look at the oblivious three enemies located on the bridge. These are going to be your friends for the next hour or so.
Ideally, the best way of safely taking out these enemies is with the pyromancer flame (or an equivalent magic). After a few attacks, the enemies should go down, and the souls will be yours.
Then, once they’re dead, collect any dropped items and return to the bonfire, rest, and repeat ad nauseum.
Late-Game Farming Spot
For players late in the game, the old farming spot simply won’t do. You need something far more bountiful to satiate your thirst for souls. Luckily, such a place exists.
This late-game farming location can be found once you’ve gained access to the optional area, Archdragon Peak.
After defeating the Ancient Wyvern, you’re transported to the second bonfire found located at the Dragon-Kin Mausoleum. Prepare to get really comfortable here.
Just inside the doorway is an infinitely spawning knight. He spawns after an enemy upstairs rings a bell. His spawn location is on the other side of the room, and indicated by a glowing gold circle. Simply place yourself behind the spawning knight, wait for his silhouette to change from gold to normal colors, then backstab, kill, and repeat.
If done correctly, the knight will respawn every ten seconds or so, at the ring of the enemy bell upstairs. With the appropriate equipment, each kill will grant you 5,280 souls. Now you should be able to earn enough to upgrade, level up, and purchase anything you want.
