Call of Duty is the biggest video game franchise in the world, and it made a return this year with the release of Modern Warfare. Even after you’ve beaten the campaign, though, there’s still plenty of content to keep you playing for hours on end. Here’s how to play Infected in CoD Modern Warfare.
Playing Infected in CoD Modern Warfare
With the release of the first official season in the game, there are new maps and game modes to get into, along with the brand new Battle Pass as well. One of those modes is Infected, which features two teams: the Survivors and the Infected.
Armed with only a knife, the Infected have to chase down the Survivors to infect them all to win the game. While their loadout is extremely limited, they make up for it with insane mobility, which allows them to cover long distances very quickly.
On the other hand, Survivors are armed with regular weapons, and they’ll need to survive and avoid the Infected.
At the time of writing, this game mode isn’t actually available in public matches just yet. Instead, you’ll need to play it as a private or custom match.
From the multiplayer menu, just choose the option to open a private or custom lobby, then press the R2/RT button to select Alternate Modes, and you’ll see Infected as one of the available game modes on that list. Select that, and you’ll be able to start a game and invite other players to your lobby. It’s not clear when exactly the mode will be made available for public matches, but for now, this seems to be the only way to do it.
To recap, here’s how to play the Infected game mode in CoD Modern Warfare:
- From the multiplayer menu, create a custom lobby.
- Go to the Alternate Modes tab and choose Infected.
- You can then invite other players to join in on your session.
