Borderlands 3 marks the return of Gearbox Software’s popular looter shooter franchise, and it’s just been released for PC and consoles. It comes with a whole slew of new bosses to fight, including Killavolt, who’s an optional boss you can encounter fairly early on. Here’s how to kill Killavolt in Borderlands 3.
How to Kill Killavolt in Borderlands 3
Once you arrive in Promethea, you’ll be able to take on a level 13 side mission where Moxxi tasks you with taking out Killavolt in Lectra City.
The fight itself is pretty straightforward, but there are a few things to keep track of, and it can get pretty chaotic. Here’s a brief breakdown of what you need to know and do:
- When the floor tiles turn yellow, that’s your warning that it’s about to get electrified. They’ll turn blue soon after to show that they’re electrified, and will hurt you when you step on them.
- Killavolt’s weak point is his back, which is where you want to aim to get critical hits.
- The chests around the arena contain ammo and a fair bit of health, and we recommend saving the health pickups for when the entire floor turns blue, as you’ll take unavoidable damage.
As his name suggests, Killavolt does shock damage, which naturally means that he’ll be pretty resistant to shock weapons. Cryo and incendiary damage work well here, though, with the former helping to slow him down a little.
You might also want to consider corrosive damage, which will help a ton with dealing damage over time.
As soon as the fight starts, you’ll want to keep an eye on the floor tiles to make sure you’re aware of which ones are going to get electrified. Next, you’ll want to focus on getting behind him as much as possible to land your critical shots.
As the fight goes on, Killavolt will eventually summon adds to the arena, and we recommend keeping one or two alive at low health, just in case you fall in battle and need the Second Wind revival.
At around half health, Killavolt will start rushing towards you in a straight line, but this is fairly easy to dodge if you just hop to the side. What’s tricky about the fight is when he summons a blue shield around himself, making him immune to damage. When he does this, watch the tiles and prepare for incoming damage as he summons electricity from the ceilings. This would be a good time to open those chests for health.
When the entire floor turns blue, immediately start jumping to try to avoid as much damage as possible, and look out for safe spots on the ground.
As long as you’re always aware of the floor tile colors, you should be able to clear the fight easily.
That’s all you need to know about how to kill Killavolt in Borderlands 3. Be sure to check our Borderlands 3 guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
