Borderlands 3’s Broken Hearts Valentine’s Day event kicked off on Feb. 13, and players now have a week, until Feb. 20 when the event ends, to get all the rewards on offer. While the event can be turned off, that’d be silly, because this is easy, powerful gear up for grabs. Here’s how to get all Broken Hearts rewards in Borderlands 3.

The premise of this event is simple. Maurice is fascinated by the idea of our commercialized holiday celebrating our love for those most important to us. He wants your help with his ongoing studies into our ‘courting rituals’ and, apparently, that means simply blasting hearts above the heads of our enemies.

As long as you’ve got the most recent update for Borderlands 3 downloaded and installed, you’ll be able to take part in the event immediately.

The Broken Hearts event will put different colored hearts above the heads of some enemies in the game.

This isn’t the case for every enemy. When you see a heart appear above an enemy’s head, shoot it until it breaks, and you’ll add one to your tally. Each different type of heart acts differently. Some will rain down loot once shot, while others will explode into a burst of flames.

All you need to do to earn the Broken Hearts rewards is to keep on shooting these floating hearts. Maurice will thank you for your efforts with a reward at certain milestones. These being 10, 25, 50, 75, and 100 hearts.
