There’s a surprising amount of depth to be found in the gameplay and mechanics of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, but not all of it is as clearly explained as it could be. That’s why we’re here to help with a guide on how to cook.
Cooking in Bloodstained Ritual of the Night
Introduced early on in the game, cooking acts as a way to procure consumables that can boost your stats and give you a leg up on more challenging enemies you encounter as you progress.
To actually cook these items however, you’ll need to know where to go and have what you’ll need to cook up some of these helpful enhancers.
Where You Can Cook in Bloodstained Ritual of the Night
First and foremost, you’ll need to speak with Johannes in the village. He’s the only NPC you’ll be able to cook through, and you do so via the Prepare option of his dialogue menu.
Select the prepare option, and then a list of items you can cook should pop up. Almost every item will have a list of ingredients needed to create it, which can be seen on the right side of the screen when you hover over the item you’d like to cook.
Where to Get Ingredients to Cook With
As for where to get the ingredients you’ll need to cook, there are a couple of options.
One is to speak with Dominique at the Supply Post, also found in the village. She’ll have a limited amount of ingredients you can purchase to cook with, and is easily the safest method for procuring these materials.
However, this method will limit the quality of the food you can create, as she won’t have rarer ingredients until later in the game.
The other is to grind through enemies. Occasionally, certain enemies drop ingredients when they’re killed. These ingredients vary in terms of rarity and typically correspond to the enemy’s strength and level.
As such, if you’re looking to make the best food as soon as possible, you’ll want to find an area with enemies that drop rare ingredients and kill them as often as possible.
