How to Get Supply Drops in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Recommended Videos

The Supply Drop system was first introduced in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare back in 2014, and has been a staple for each title in the franchise since then. Supply Drops are in-game packages that contain various cosmetic items for characters, weapons, and players’ calling card profiles. Black Ops 4 takes a different route when it comes to cosmetic rewards. Here’s what you need to know about how to get Supply Drops in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

In developer Treyarch’s previous title, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, the Black Market was a separate menu where players could purchase Supply Drops through Cryptokeys earned through gameplay or with CoD Points bought with real money. The Black Market returns in Black Ops 4, but Supply Drops are currently absent from the game.

Instead, the Black Market has a “Contraband stream” which is a tiered system where completing a tier will earn a new cosmetic reward. The system is similar to the Battle Pass in Fortnite: Battle Royale, where you can complete tiers by simply playing the game. This functions a little similarly to Supply Drops, but with a few differences.

Contraband Stream in Black Ops 4

The Contraband stream is completely free to all Black Ops 4 players, and will be updated every few months with a new round of items in “seasonal Operations.” These Contraband items include characters for the Blackout battle royale mode, specialist outfits, tags, gestures, and “signature weapons.”

The game will also hold special events tied to holidays, each with their own specialized stream of holiday-themed content. The first free stream will be a Halloween event beginning Saturday, Oct. 20 for PlayStation 4 and a week later on Oct. 27 for Xbox One and PC.

There is also a shop coming to the Black Market in November, called Blackjack’s Shop, where players will be able to directly purchase specific gear that is refreshed weekly. It is unknown at this time if CoD Points or another specific currency will be required for the shop.

As of now, there is no way to earn Supply Drops in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and there are currently no official plans to implement them into the game. Considering some countries are cracking down on loot boxes in games over gambling laws, it would surprising if Supply Drops ever made a return.
