Decisive Battle Signals – Attack on Titan

While playing Attack on Titan, you’re going to come across some tricky situations. It can be a race to defend a specific soldier, a horde of abnormals, or a stubbornly powerful Titan in your path. While you can try to go it alone, the game provides an ability that ups your stats temporarily, heals you, replenishes some of your resources, and calls in backup. This ability is called the Decisive Battle Signal and it will be your best friend.

In the lower, left-hand corner of your screen, where your player icon is, you’ll see a small meter that curves up the side and is filled with yellow. This is your Decisive Battle meter. It is filled slightly with each Titan subjugation, and by a large amount whenever you complete a side mission. When full, you can hit R2/RT to launch a flair into the sky. Several soldiers will come to assist and the screen will get a cool, washed out effect as you hone in on your targets. It only lasts for a short while, but can be extended by defeating Titans and completing more side quests. The good thing is that you can use it multiple times in a single mission, and you get increasing amounts of backup each successive time it’s activated.

One thing to note is that Eren loses this ability after completing Chapter 4. That’s when he unlocks the Transformation ability. Using R2 when your meter is full will instead turn you into a powerful Titan.
