Eren Jaeger
Eren Jaeger is your starting character and also the star of the Attack on Titan anime and manga, so of course he’s going to be a bit special. When you first obtain Eren, his starting skill, Reckless, Â actually decreases your Leadership stat even more. However, that skill is swapped to Transformation after you beat the main story, giving you the ability to become his Titan Form instead of using a Decisive Battle Signal.
His concentration makes his Focus and gas usage much better than most, so he has that going for him. Also, he can move normally even when critically injured, which will help you in tougher fights down the line.Â
Mikasa Ackermann
Mikasa is every Attack on Titan fan’s idol. She’s powerful and highly respected in the Survey Corps., or any other military organization for that matter. She follows Eren around because she feels indebted to him and his family for saving her life when she was a child. In fact, her iconic red scarf was given to her by Eren when they were just children.
In the game she’s one of the most useful characters you can come across. High Strength means she does a lot of damage, and her stamina and health are top-notch. She also starts out with the Chain Attack skill which allows you to rapidly combo hits on one swing, leading to much easier Subjugations.Â
Armin Arlert
Armin is the smallest member of the team, and he’s been friends with Eren and Mikasa since they were quite small. He’s not exceptionally powerful, as you can tell by his low Strength stat, and he doesn’t have a whole lot of Stamina, but you definitely shouldn’t overlook him. In fact, he’s one of the most useful characters in the game.
Armin starts off with the Tactician’s Eyes skill which lets him actually order the soldiers who are with him. That means you can aim and have them attack specific bodyparts while you focus elsewhere. He also learns skills such as Chain Dash and Always Prepared so that you can move around easier and bring more items. He’s not meant for direct confrontation, but when used properly he can help take down the largest of Titans.Â
Jean Kirschtein
Jean is the loudmouth soldier who wants to be recognized and respected. He’s often going head to head with Eren, but eventually ends up becoming really good friends with him. While he may sometimes appear to be somewhat coward-like, he’s actually very bound by honor and duty and will do whatever it takes to protect those he cares about.
He lacks Concentration and Stamina, meaning you want to be extra careful with him. Low Concentration means he’ll have trouble dodging close calls with Titans and can easily end up dead. His starting skill keeps him out of harms way, thankfully. Chain Dash allows him to boost twice in mid-air, helping Jean to cover more ground.Â
Conny Springer
Conny is often looked at like some sort of goofball in Attack on Titan, but that’s just due to his easy-going nature. He’s funny and doesn’t mind a good joke every once in a while, but he’s a mean fighter when it comes down to it. He doesn’t have much in the Strength, Concentration, or Leadership departments, but he can dance around Titans with the best of them.
He actually has a very useful starting skill, provided you can maintain your height. Swoop increases your damage when attacking from above, meaning after anchoring onto a Titan you’ll want to move upwards before charging in. As long as you leverage his speed over reckless assaults, you’ll be fine.Â
Sasha Braus
Sasha is a beloved character in Attack on Titan thanks to her excessively polite way of speaking, honest heart, and love of all things food. She’s often the butt of jokes, but is one of the most reliable soldiers to ever have at your side. This may not be clear a first, though, thanks to her modest stats.
It’s her Elimination Bonus starting skill that makes her worth considering. It makes it much easier to acquire rare materials from Titans, something you’ll definitely want to do if you plan on upgrading your current gear or obtaining even better equipment.Â
Christa Lenz
The “goddess” of Attack on Titan, Christa is loved by all. She’s small, adorable, and quite innocent when it comes to battle and things of that nature. But she also happens to be very defensive of her fellow humans and will fight if she has to. When it comes to combat, she’s extraordinarily squishy. No Strength, Stamina, or Health makes it really hard to take down Titans, but she has great Leadership, Dexterity, and Concentration. That means moving about, working in a team, and dodging are all in her wheelhouse.
Her starting skill, Charisma, allows for the player to build up their Decisive Battle Signal Meter much faster, meaning you can up your damage, heal, and call for backup much more often.Â
Levi
Levi is pretty mysterious, especially if you only know him from the anime. It’s unclear why he’s so damn good at what he does, and his background is known to be pretty shady, but if he doesn’t impress you on a battlefield, I don’t know what will. To be honest, the only reason his stat meter isn’t completely full is probably because the developers wanted to provide at least a bit of balance to this individual. But as fans of Attack on Titan already know, there truly is nobody better than Levi.
He’s very powerful and fast, plus he learns the ability to switch out his blades in mid-air at level three. You can go on a complete onslaught all by yourself with this guy, as he ups his own damage the longer you let him accelerate. He also learns Mikasa’s Chain Attack ability, meaning nobody can stand in your way. May heaven help whatever Titan faces off against this Survey Corps. legend.Â
Hange Zoe
Attack on Titan’s resident mad scientist. While everyone is trying to slay as many Titans as possible to save humanity, she would like nothing more than to capture one for her own research. She’s eccentric to say the least, but she never lets that get in the way of doing her job. She’s a wild but useful character, relying on her high Dexterity and Leadership to get her through tough situations.
She starts off with Tactician’s Eyes, allowing her to give orders to any soldiers fighting alongside her. This can help with more planned out subjugations, making for easier triumphs. Being as talented as she is, her later skills compound her Dexterity, allowing her to stay in action much longer.Â
Erwin Smith
Erwin is the commander of the Survey Corps. and is known for being somewhat cold. He cares about nothing other than the future of humanity and will sacrifice anything to secure that for his people. He is a master tactician and is responsible for developing several formations when outside of the walls to help keep his soldiers alive. Like Levi, he is a master of almost all traits, lacking only in Dexterity.
Still, Erwin is a force to be reckoned with, as someone who commands Levi is expected to be. Using him on the field will show you just why everyone respects him without any doubt. He uses the Tactician’s Eyes skill to great effect, and can deal out more damage than most other characters. Essentially, he’s Armin on steroids.
