The summer is well underway now and we’re into July. With the new month beginning, the fish and bugs you can catch in Animal Crossing New Horizons have switched up a little. You’ll now find a bunch of bugs that you’d find during the summer months in the real world. So that you can get a step closer to filling Blathers’ museum, here’s everything you need to know about the Horned Atlas in Animal Crossing New Horizons, including where to find it and how much it sells for.
Horned Atlas Spawn Times & Location in Animal Crossing New Horizons
The Horned Atlas isn’t particularly rare but might be quite tough to spot. First things first, you’ll need to have caught 100 bugs in the game, which shouldn’t be too tough with the game having been out for a while now.
You will only be able to find the Horned Atlas during the following months for each hemisphere.
- Northern Hemisphere: July – August
- Southern Hemisphere: January – February
During these months, the Horned Atlas can only be caught between 5pm and 8am, so you’ll have to do some evening or nighttime bug hunting in Animal Crossing New Horizons to get it.
How to Catch
Unlike a lot of bugs that you’ll just find wandering around the island, the Horned Atlas will only spawn on Palm Trees. You should have some on your beaches, otherwise you’ll have to plant them, so just head to them at the right time.
Get your net out and hold A to sneak towards the bug, letting go when next to it to grab it. If you’ve done it at the right time, your little character will show it off before putting it away.
Horned Atlas Sell Price
Once you’ve caught one and if you don’t want to donate it to Blathers so that he can show off in his museum, you can sell it to Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny for 8000 bells. If Flick visits your island though, you can sell it to him for 50% more, netting you 12,000 bells.
That’s everything you need to know about the Horned Atlas in Animal Crossing New Horizons. For more tips and tricks on the ever-evolving game, be sure to check out our wiki guide or search for Twinfinite.
