Getting the Dynamic Painting in Animal Crossing New Horizons

To start off, you’re going to want to make sure that Redd has appeared in your town, which is activated once you speak to Blathers at the Museum. After a day or two, you’ll eventually find Redd’s ship docked at the secret northern beach on your island.

You’ll find Redd walking around the town and then you can speak to him and buy whatever piece of art that he’s selling –don’t worry, this first one will always be legit/real.

Once you do that, go over to Blathers again and he’ll take the artwork and open up a new section of the museum.

Once you’re finally able to get inside Redd’s ship, you can purchase one piece of artwork per day but there’s a chance that it could be fake.

To get the Dynamic Painting, you just have to keep checking back at the ship when you can until it appears. It’ll look exactly like this picture down below:

The Great Wave off Kanagawa – Hokusai

It’s based on the real-life painting, The Great Wave off Kanagawa and here’s the description from Animal Crossing New Horizons:

“The signature piece of ukiyo-e artist, Katsushika Hokusai, painted as part of a series when he was in his 60s. Although it is dubbed “Thirty-Six Views,” he eventually added 10 more to make 46 in total.”

Real and Fake Differences

Luckily, with this specific painting, it’ll always be legitimate and there seems to be no fake one that has been found yet. So you don’t have to worry about inspecting it with a close eye before you purchase it from Redd.

Is the Painting Haunted?

And also, the Dynamic Painting is not haunted or cursed or anything like that. It won’t have a moving eye that stares at you or fall off the walls in your home in the middle of the night –thank goodness.

And hopefully, that helped you figure out how to get the Dynamic Painting in Animal Crossing New Horizons. For more tips and tricks, be sure to check out our extensive Guide Wiki right here.
