You’re going to use this to catch some bugs to sell or donate to the museum, so it’s no doubt going to be a must have tool in your arsenal.

How to Get a Bug Net in Animal Crossing New Horizon

Crafting a Bug Net

When it comes to getting one, you’re going to want to head over to any workbench. Either one you’ve made for yourself or Tom Nook’s DIY one.

There, you simply need to highlight the Flimsy Bug Net recipe and craft it using five tree branches.

You’ve got yourself a new net! Do keep in mind, though, that this is the worst one you can have. It will break often until you inevitably upgrade it.

Buying One Instead

If being all DIY isn’t for you, you can always just head over to Nook’s Cranny, the shop on the island.

Once there, interact with the cabinet and you’ll check out the prices on tools to buy one, instead!

Upgrading Your Bug Net

As mentioned, “flimsy” is obviously the first kind you can get. The name doesn’t strike much confidence, right?

Here are the other kinds of nets you can upgrade to, and how to get them.

When it comes to actually catching bugs, you’re going to want to be a little cautious.

If you run up all willy nilly, you’re going to scare them off. Instead, hold down the A button when you’re a bit close to them.

This will make your character do a slower, tip-toed walk. From here, make sure you get close enough so that the net will reach wherever the bug is.

Let go of A when you think you’ve got it within your grasp, and you’ll have caught yourself an insect. From here, you can sell it or you can donate it to the museum.

Both are beneficial, but obviously if you’re low on bells or if the museum already has that bug, you’re going to want to sell it!

And that’s how to get a bug net in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
