WoW Battle For Azeroth: 4 Things to Do After Hitting Level Cap (Endgame)

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Hitting level cap in a new expansion is often a confusing experience in World of Warcraft, with players getting lost before the first raid launches. Below is a compilation of the four major things to do in Battle for Azeroth after you hit the level cap.

Mythic Dungeons

Dungeons are really good in Battle for Azeroth. Even when Blizzard reached their lowest ebb in recent years, their dungeon design remained stellar. This trend has carried on through into Battle for Azeroth’s instances, which shine on higher difficulties. Now is the perfect time to get a regular group together to push difficulties and gear up before the Uldir raid launches September 4.

Early predictions see groups asking for at least 335 item level for Uldir, with Mythic dungeons being the perfect way to reach that level early. With Mythic Plus not launching until the same day, there is plenty of time to practice mechanics and gear up.

They are fun, too, which people often forget about.

Professions and Gold Making

The pre-raid, post-leveling downtime is the perfect way to make a killing in World of Warcraft. There is still time to get ahead of the curve in profession leveling, with gathering and consumable professions seeing the greatest potential in terms of short-term revenue. Flasks, food, enchants, and gems will forever see a slow trickle of gold coming through for the entire expansion, but during this pre-raid hype, players and guilds will be buying them at a premium.

Professions such as blacksmithing and engineering offer useful gear, too. Engineering, for example, offers a killer pair of goggles for caster classes. In order to make these essential raid items, however, players will need to do a bit of reputation grinding. For those unsure of where to learn the new levels of professions, just talk to a guard in Boralus or Dazar’alor.

Reputation Grind

After the brutal reputation grind towards the end of Legion, the last thing players want to do is grind out more of it. However, a few key reputations are required to finish the War Campaign, and the rewards are more than worth it. Mainly, Alliance players will want to focus on their 7th Legion reputation, and Horde players with the Honorbound.

These reputations allow the War Campaign story to progress and open up extremely useful items and recipes from their respective vendors. Players will be able to access a 320 cloak for merely reaching Honored, for example. The two newest allied races – Dark Iron Dwarves and Mag’har Orcs – are locked behind these reputations, too.

Secondly, players will want to finish as many Champions of Azeroth emissarys and world quests as possible. These are the rarest to pop up, but reaching exalted opens up access to a 355 piece of Azerite gear, which should see players through to the next major patch.

Island Expeditions

Island Expeditions have had a mixed response so far, but they remain the best way to grind out Azerite Power. The Expeditions really come into their own at max level, particularly if players tackle the player-versus-player difficulity with a solid group. Island Expeditions mix together PvE gameplay, resource management, and PvP in what essentially boils down to a race. The islands have four difficulties: normal, heroic, mythic, and PvP.

Players must kill rare mobs, enemies, mine nodes, and fight AI or player-controlled enemies at chokehold points. The least maxed out players should do is complete the weekly Island Expedition quest, which awards a whopping 2,500 Azerite Power. For Alliance players, they can find the weekly quest from Flynn Fairwind in Boralus, and Horde players will need to seek out Rez’okun in Dazar’alor.

While the Azerite grind may not seem appetising right now, the effort will pay dividends when the Uldir raid launches early next month. Plenty of rare pets, toys, and mounts are locked behind the mode, too, for all ardent collectors out there.
