The Witcher 3 Development Status in CD Projekt RED Financial Report

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Polish developer, CD Projekt RED, released a financial report a few hours ago updating the development status for their highly anticipated game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. According to this report, the following aspects of the game have been completed:

Recommended Videos
  • Dialogue lines are closed & implemented
  • They are currently recording voice overs for each language version of the game
  • The world of the game is completed – locations are finished, all important gameplay mechanics are already implemented
  • Graphic assets and animations are nearing completion
  • The game can already be played in full
  • REDengine 3 supports all 3 platforms
  • The physical elements of the collector’s edition are in production

The following points detail all the work that remains to be completed:

  • Implementation of the remaining side quests
  • Importing voice overs and testing their quality/changing them
  • Gameplay testing and balancing
  • Continuous work on improving the quality of graphic assets, animations, effects and sounds – this will last until just before going gold
  • REDengine3 optimization

The report also details some of the reasons why The Witcher 3 was delayed into 2015; including the fact that the game would be up against less competition, giving time for more gamers to acquire next-gen consoles since it is purely a next-gen game, as well as just having more time to polish the game to make it as enjoyable as possible.

An item of note in the report was that CD Projekt RED is also working on a multiplatform mobile game for later this year. Since The Witcher 3 is pretty much done and is just in the finals stages of optimization, this unspecified mobile game is something to look forward to from the developer instead of hunting down any scraps of The Witcher 3 news.
