Capcom has been focused on making Street Fighter V better than its predecessor, from making the gameplay more accessible to opening beta tests to everyone for the first time. To add one more positive, they have confirmed that the game will launch worldwide on the same date.

In a presentation at a Playstation event in Hong Kong, Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono and Tomoaki Ayano confirmed the game will launch in every region at the same time. Ono expressed gratitude to the Street Fighter fans in Hong Kong, saying they deserve to play at the same time as everyone else in the world.

This news ties into Capcom’s interest in Street Fighter as an eSport with its global tournament series, the Capcom Pro Tour. Capcom officially sponsors tournaments in every region, so it makes sense to ensure every region has equal access to their game. In the past, Japanese players had a distinct advantage over others as they were able to play Street Fighter games in arcades before anyone else, but that advantage won’t exist for this game.

Street Fighter V launches spring 2016 on PlayStation 4 and PC.
