It would be fair to say that Sony’s PlayStation Network has had its fair share of problems over the past few years. We all remember how the system was hacked several years ago and there have been numerous problems since.
You’d think that Sony would have put a lot more focus on making the network better but just recently PlayStation gamers were plagued with incredibly slow download speeds. It seems PlayStation gamers on NeoGAF have had enough and they’ve started a hashtag campaign called #BetterPSN to let Sony see their dissatisfaction with the online service.
Sony seems to have gotten the message and has issued the following statement:
“Feedback from our community is very important to us and helps guide our ongoing commitment toward making PlayStation the best place to play,” a Sony spokesperson said to GamesBeat. “We encourage users to submit ideas on ways to improve PlayStation products and services here: http://share.blog.us.playstation.com/. We appreciate the dialogue we have with our gamers and have built and improved features based directly on their input.”
It’s great to see Sony quickly responding to users and hopefully they’ll tackle the things that these gamers have asked for, which consists of:
- Two-factor authentication for better security
- An online-status option to make it appear you are offline or invisible even when you are playing PSN games.
- Notifications for when people come online and offline.
- The capability to send video gameplay clips to friends through PSN.
- Better organization and browsing options for downloads and library.
- Other bug fixes.
Truth be told, these features are standard on other gaming services like Xbox Live and Steam so it would be in Sony’s best interest to keep up.
