Nintendo will be focusing on the Wii U and 3DS at this year’s E3, at the expense of details on its future initiatives.

During Nintendo’s latest meeting with investors, company president and CEO Satoru Iwata confirmed that the company will be focused on Wii U and 3DS content for E3 2015. The exclusion of the NX from the conference should not come as a surprise, as Iwata had previously mentioned that we wouldn’t be seeing or hearing anything more about it following its first brief mention.

“We do not plan on talking specifics about the the NX until 2016…Presently, we cannot talk about the time period when it will go on sale or what it’s like. Because we are calling it a ‘new concept,’ we are not thinking of this as a ‘simple replacement’ for the 3DS or the Wii U.” Said Iwata at the investors meeting.

Iwata didn’t stop there with crushing any dreams we may have had of hearing some news about Nintendo’s future initiatives. Yep unfortunately that means that for any of us (yes me included) who were hoping that we may hear something more about Nintendo’s partnership with DeNA, we’ll have to keep on waiting.

“Incidentally, we’re getting various questions for this year’s E3, like ‘Won’t there be a NX announcement?’, ‘Will there be a presentation on smart devices?’, or ‘Will there be more on the quality of life platform?’ However, since we understand that E3 is an event for dedicated video game machines, we do not intend to discuss the smart devices as well as quality of life,” Iwata added.

What’s your opinion on this news? Would you prefer to hear something about the Nintendo/ DeNA partnership or Quality of Life, or are you happy to learn more about the future of Nintendo’s current consoles? Let us know in the comments below.
