Nintendo To Officially Sponsor Super Smash Bros. Tournament

It was announced today that Nintendo will be sponsoring a Super Smash Bros. tournament taking place at Apex 2015. This news was first announced on Twitter by the official Apex 2015 account, and was retweeted by the official Nintendo of America for confirmation.

It is currently not known how Nintendo will be involved in the event, but it will likely concern providing prizes for the winners of the tournament and general funding for the event.

Apex 2015 is an annual tournament involving many games, including Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Ultra Street Fighter 4, Guilty Gear Xrd and Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. This year, it is taking place over Jan. 30 – Feb. 1 in Secaucus, New Jersey. You can find out more about Apex as well as register for attendance at their website here.
