Greg M. Mitchell has added more fuel to the hype fire surrounding the next instalment in the Gears of War franchise, with his recent move of studios.
With rumors having arisen recently about a Marcus Fenix collection coming to the Xbox One, Mitchell revealed through a tweet that he would be leaving Epic Games to join Black Tusk Studio on the next installment of the Gears of War series.
Whilst their are no further details with regards to where abouts in the timeline the story will take place or the characters it will focus upon, the fact that Black Tusk Studios have brought in big talent to work on the game is promising that we’ll all be seeing just what we want from the next game in the series.
Mitchell started with Epic Games in 2006 as a Digital Cinematographer on the original Gears of War title before becoming lead Cinematics Director with every subsequent Gears of War title in the series. Not to mention his work on other title made by the studio such as Infinity Blade.
Whilst we know a Gears of War title is currently in development by Black Tusk Studio for the Xbox One, we don’t know when we’ll be getting our first glimpse of the game. The possibility of seeing it at E3 is unlikely, however with Phil Spencer having said he wanted to make sure that this year’s Microsoft conference was focused more on first party exclusive experiences, you never know what big Phil has up his sleeve.
What do you think of the news? Are you glad to see Mitchell moving over to Black Tusk Studio? Or would you rather see a new team have a go at the next Gear of War? Let us know in the comments below.
