The countdown to March begins.

Square Enix hosted their latest Active Time Report at PAX Prime 2015, giving more insight and progress reports on the production of Final Fantasy XV. The game is taking shape in a big way, as its director Hajibe Tabata confirmed straight off the bat that it will most definitely be releasing in 2016. He did not reveal the concrete release date, citing reasons like wanting to make sure the game is polished enough and up to the quality they have striven for before prematurely announcing it.

Tabata did, however, give the audience a release window for the release date announcement. Square Enix will be hosting a major event in March 2016, which is when they plan to officially reveal Final Fantasy XV‘s release date. For those of you paying attention at home, that means we’ve currently got a release window of “April 2016 to December 2016” for now.

There was plenty of assurance that fans won’t have to wait more than six months for another update, as Tabata confirmed that Final Fantasy XV will be present at Tokyo Game Show in September. They will discuss features such as fishing and chocobos, as well as provide new information about Luna, the female lead who replaced Stella during the transition from Final Fantasy Versus XIII to Final Fantasy XV. Tabata also claimed there would be at least one more Active Time Report this winter, to bridge the gap between Tokyo Game Show and the special event in March.

Also announced during the Report was that Square Enix have launched official Japanese and English Twitter accounts for Final Fantasy XV. The pages just launched today, and should serve as an excellent way to keep up-to-date on the latest announcements surrounding the game.
