The Distant Worlds concerts are a way for Final Fantasy fans to enjoy music from the series and occasionally get some new information. Conductor Arnie Roth recently told a Pittsburgh crowd that a Final Fantasy XII remake is on the way.
During an intermission at a Distant Worlds concert, Roth mentioned that a Final Fantasy XII remake is coming before welcoming the game’s composer Hitoshi Sakimoto. Sakimoto has only appeared at two North American Distant World concerts, so it would make sense to announce the game at this concert.
Square Enix hasn’t said anything about Final Fantasy XII but hinted at some unannounced game reveals for Gamescom in August. When asked by fans for clarity, Sakimoto and Roth said they couldn’t talk about Final Fantasy XII. As of now, it’s unclear if the game will get a full remake like Final Fantasy VII or a remastered edition like Final Fantasy X and X-2. The latter seems more likely, but we’ll get more details at Gamescom.
