While Destiny has inspired a few loyal and dedicated fans to get tattoos of their favorite images, not everyone is ready to make the life long commitment of getting inked. However, an easier act to follow is the Destiny cosplay. If you don’t like the way your design comes out, you could always just tweak it a bit or take your costume off and start from scratch.
You don’t need to be a certain age to cosplay; dressing up as your favorite characters can be fun for anyone. And, while some people spend large sums of money on their costumes to make them appear as though they walked out of the television screen, being rich certainly isn’t a cosplaying requirement. You can start by creatively throwing together household objects. If you have imagination, you can make it work. But, to get some inspiration, let’s take a look at some of those walking out of the television screen types.
The Fallen
With the recent House of Wolves release, the Fallen have been getting some extra attention. This particular Fallen above appears to be a Fallen Captain, the grimoire description of which reads, “Having clawed and knifed his way to the top, scattering bodies and limbs in his wake, the Captain is the strongest and most ferocious member of the crew he musters around himself. His ration of Ether is the largest, his blades the sharpest, his guns the finest. Upon his shoulders hangs the flag of his House, if he swears loyalty to any. For his crew, the slightest hesitation to comply earns a slash from his sword. Defiance results in immediate amputation, if he is in a good mood, or death, if he is not.”
The Awoken Huntress
This Awoken Huntress is taking a break from traveling through the galaxy at light speed to stop and take a selfie. But who can blame her? The hair, the makeup, and the eyes are just fabulous. The eyes appear to be color contacts. However, getting the makeup and the hair colors just right probably required her to have a lot of “patience and time”. On her right arm, she sports the Young Ahamkara’s spine, the description of which reads, “Give me your arm, oh bearer mine. Let me help you fill the world with teeth.”
Eris Morn
Everyone who bought The Dark Below DLC as well as many who didn’t are familiar with the guardian who escaped the clutches of Crota; Eris Morn. While the rest of her fireteam was not as fortunate, Eris was able to crawl through the shadows of the hive labyrinths, eventually emerging alive. Physically, she is in tact, though if you listen to the comments she makes, you’ll find that her sanity is questionable. Regardless, she’s one of the coolest, most unique looking characters in Destiny and this cosplayer has done an amazing job of replicating her likeness.
The Exo Hunter
According to an article on Kotaku, here we have “Cosplayer redner, aka Erik Barclay.” Apparently, this costume was worn to the New York Comic Con in 2014. While the costume from the shoulders down is undoubtably cool, what jumps out immediately is the Exo head. Not only is the headpiece itself perfectly carved in exactly the right shape, but Erik Barclay was also able to wire glowing lights into the eye sockets. This is probably one of those more costly costumes that we mentioned earlier. And, even if he was able to get the materials for a bargain, this costume definitely required an above average level of technical expertise. If you’ve never cosplayed, you might not want to start by trying to look as awesome as this guy. But then again, if you think you can pull it off, then you should definitely give it a shot.
A Warlock With Some Super Good Advice
While many Destiny players choose to use the exotic rocket launcher Gjallarhorn, heavy machine guns are not to be underestimated. In fact, one might say that advising a friend to use heavy machine guns over rocket launchers would be “super good advice.” All jokes aside, Super Good Advice is one of the best exotic machine guns in the game. It’s description reads, “This weapon is full of it.” Clearly, the Warlock above has listened to his advisors. With his heavy machine gun in hand, this Warlock is fierce and ready for battle.
The Titan
This Titan is as cool as a cucumber, leaning up against the wall without a care in the world. With his head cocked, he looks toward us, almost as if he’s about to say, “sup?” But one false move and he won’t hesitate to end you. It’s difficult to make out exactly what weapon he is holding, but the v-shaped insignia on the side marks it as a vanguard weapon. Judging by the fur collar that was featured in the game’s promotional images, the armor appears to be the Holdfast Type 2 chest armor, which can also be purchased from the Vanguard. The description of this chest piece reads, “I didn’t get shot. I never get shot. I just body-checked the missile.”
The Queen of The Reef
The Queen of the Reef is the baddest bitch in Destiny. Before you question that, check out her grimoire description which reads, “The Queen of the Awoken is as much an enigma as the Reef she rules. It is said that she won her crown through ruthlessness, and that she stands as master of the Fallen House of Wolves in place of their defeated Kell. The City’s rise spells an end to the Reef’s age of isolation. The Queen will surely look to this new era as an opportunity. And the City, in turn, must look to her. The Reefborn Awoken have spent long ages out on the edge of everything, and they may know secrets of terrible weight – the Queen most of all.”
Like the Awoken Huntress, this cosplayer also seems to have dedicated a lot of “patience and time” to hair and makeup. She might even be using the same shade of color contacts. Again, fabulous. Plus, she has this fearsome look in her eyes. We can’t know for sure if the look is natural or practiced. But either way, this cosplayer’s ferocity perfectly matches that of the in-game Queen of the Reef. And the outfit? Totally nailed it.
There’s Nothing More Precious Than AÂ Huntress And Her Gjallarhorn
Similar to the Awoken Huntress, this Huntress also sports the Young Ahamkara’s Spine on her shoulder. But who can really focus on that shoulder when on the other shoulder rests Destiny’s most coveted weapon: the Gjallarhorn. The item description of this weapon reads, “”If there is beauty in destruction, why not also in its delivery?” – Feizel Cruz.” In this cosplay, the Gjallarhorn is as beautiful as ever, but what’s most remarkable is the way it all comes together. The color scheme of the Gjallarhorn goes splendidly with the the Young Ahamkara’s Spine while the familiar pairing of red and green adds just the right amount of color.  Not to mention that this Huntress seems to have found an awesome background location for the photo shoot that is the cherry on top of it all.
