Before their shutdown, Crackdown developer Realtime Worlds developed APB, a cops vs. crooks MMO that was shut down and later went free to play. No one knew if APB would be coming to consoles, and today, Saints Row publisher Deep Silver has announced that they’ll be working with Reloaded Games and The Workshop Entertainment to bring APB: Reloaded to the PS4 and Xbox One this spring.
If that last name sounds familiar to you, it’s because The Workshop Entertainment was responsible for helping develop the Borderlands 2 DLC Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage and the console versions of The Evil Within. Like on PC, APB will be free-to-play and have in-game purchases available for customization items, gear, and vehicles. If you play on PS4, you won’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription, but Xbox One players will need a Gold subscription.
The news is..interesting, certainly. To say that APB has had a weird release would be putting it lightly, but that’s no reason it can’t thrive on consoles. As GTA V and Payday 2 have shown us, people love breaking the law and upholding it. No word yet if APB: Reloaded will have cross play with PC and either console, but if it does, we’ll let you know.
