There is nothing in this world more beautiful than seeing the passion and love for your favorite franchises (whether video games, comic books, movies, TV shows, etc.) come to life in the most creative of ways through handmade and DIY projects. Actually – scratch that, there is something better – sharing and making available the fruits of your labor with like-minded fans and enthusiasts. It’s also a nice bonus to be able to make some extra income (or perhaps making an entire living) doing something you genuinely love which is why handmade market platforms like Etsy prove invaluable.
Today, I’ll be sharing a list of Pokemon related items that fans shouldn’t pass up! Get your carts and wishlists ready, folks!
Custom Pokemon Hoodies
Do you want to stay warm AND show how much you love Pokemon? Look no further; Etsy store TheRobotique, run by store owner Alina N., offers custom, made to order, Pikachu hoodies. They are available in sizes XS to XL, and start running at a price of $85.00. The zip up hoodie is made from a combination of felt and fleece, although the seller offers complete customization options in terms of size and fabrics. Just send her a message and she will accommodate your needs. If you want something to match your new purchase, her Etsy store also offers Pokeball-themed wristlets, pouches, and pillows.
If Pikachu isn’t your style, don’t worry – the Interwebs always provides. While Etsy is no doubt a leading household name and platform for selling handmade, fan items – there are other platforms to look out for. For example, on ArtFire, the store Erosdiy offers for sale a line of custom Pokemon, polar fleece, hoodies featuring any character of your choice! The pricing of these hoodies will depend on character/design chosen so it is highly recommended to send a message to the seller to get an accurate quote. The gallery of Pokemon hoodies made and sold in the past includes: Abra, Larvitar, Vulpix, Rapidash, Umbreon, Eevee, Pikachu, Flareon, Kecleon, and Mew. Hands down, I would request an Armored Mewtwo hoodie.
Pokeball Bath Bomb Set
If you follow the simple and unforgettable life philosophy of Parks and Recreation‘s Donna and Tom’s “Treat. Yo. Self”, that could mean a great many things.
For some of you, treating yo self means having a soothing, relaxing, hot bath. How do you make your personal bath time better? Or, how do you make bath time into play time for your kids? Four words: Pokeball bath bomb sets. Now, you may be asking yourself: What techno-sorcery is this? Was this design stolen from the labs of Professor freaking Oak?
Alice Roy, shop owner of FizzyFairyApothecary might as well be addressed as Professor because she is a certified genius. Her store offers a set of 6 Pokeball bath bombs designed to jumpstart your bath (simply unwrap and throw) as well as emulate select iconic ones from the game. Each type of Pokeball corresponds to a specific fragrance, as follows:
Regular Pokeball: Japanese Cherry Blossom
Ultra Ball: Lemon Verbena
Net Ball: Sea Spray
Great Ball: Blueberry Cobbler
Premiere Ball: Oatmeal Milk and Honey
Master Ball: Ancient Musk
Finally, encased in each Pokeball bath bomb is a small Pokemon figurine. The toys enclosed are selected at random, so you may be compelled to catch ‘em all! At the moment, though, the seller is on a temporary hiatus – but, there’s no excuse for not adding her store to your Favorites and signing up for updates until it re-opens.
Helix Fossil
ThePropShop, run by store owner Ashley, is home to a plethora of wonderfully crafted props. Coming from a Fine Arts background with experience in carpentry, her site offers items such as masks, replica weapons, and set pieces. Among those available for purchase is a replica of the Helix Fossil – cast from plastic and painted with a fine acrylic finish. This is a wonderful item to place on a shelf, on a coffee table, or mounted onto your wall!
Pokemon Mattresses – Snorlax & Pikachu
You may have seen this product in past gaming news and blogs before, but I find it a travesty for any post on must-have, fanmade, Pokemon items list to not include this. Etsy seller Catherine Kim manages the iamknight store – this was once home to the mind-blowing oversized Snorlax bed. Measuring at 155 by 180 by 15 cm (with an additional 60 cm length to account for Snorlax’s head), this bed proves to be the ultimate in Poke-fan comfort for children and adults alike. While the Etsy page lists this item as sold out, and is not among the items displayed available on the seller’s page, it never hurts to send a message and inquire about a custom order.
But if I may be so bold to suggest an alternative that is all set for immediate purchase and delivery, I present you with the Pikachu Bed! Currently being sold through AliExpress.com, the normal retail price is $421.63, but within the next 4 days, you can purchase the bed at a discounted price of $207.00! Weighing at a whopping 16 kg (approximately 35 lbs.) and measuring at 220 by 150cm, you will need more than a simple Pokeball to capture this behemoth of a Pikachu. Not only does it look super comfortable, but from the looks of screencaps they’ve turned Pikachu into a marsupial – you can slip inside and cover yourself in warmth in its pouch! Take my money, all of it!
Custom Crocheted Magikarp Pokemon Hat
To round out another fantastic Pokemon handmade item to keep you warm through these infernal bouts of snow and cold winter hitting the country (it’s March already! I blame it on a rogue Articuno), Savannah Mitchell, owner of the Etsy store corlista, presents you her made to order Magikarp Pokemon Crochet Hat. Crafted from the seller’s words with “yarn, love”, the statement is hard to dispute.
The hat measures at roughly 20 inches in length, and I am considerably appreciative of how wide the brim that makes up Magikarp’s gaping mouth is, and thus able to easily cover and keep your ears protected from wind chill. It is available in its default orange color or its “shiny” golden color variant. Feel free to peruse at corlista’s other items for sale which include made to order Pokemon Amigurumi’s (Japanese crocheted or knitted stuffed toys). Some of her Amigurumi works include: Cubone, Lapras, Charizard, Scizor, and many more!
