Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu/Eevee

The Pokemon series made its debut on the Switch with the release of Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee this November.

While each game can be played entirely alone as you return to the familiar Kanto region to search for the original 151 and fight the Elite Four, there are also options for you and a friend to play through together in local co-op.

Two players can each use one Joy-Con controller to catch and fight Pokemon alongside each other in-game, and the Poke Ball Plus accessory also works as a separate controller as well. The second player will essentially be a support character when walking around in the wild, but can directly aid the first player in battles and when trying to catch Pokemon using the Pokeball throwing mechanics from Pokemon Go!

Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on Nov. 16.

Hitman 2

Hitman 2 in a best co-op list? Believe it or not this normally single-player experience has a great co-op mode where you and a friend can play online in the “Sniper Assassin” mode.

In this mode you work as a team to eliminate target enemies on various maps. You play as Stone and Knight using sniper rifles form a distance. Communication is key as you strategize the perfect times to take out the targets without compromising your position.

Each player uses special ammo as well, with Stone having concussive shockwave rounds and Knight using wall-piercing ammo.

Online matchmaking is not functional for this mode, so you will only be able to play online with an actual friend in mind.

Hitman 2 released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on Nov. 13.

Farming Simulator 19

Along with better graphics, Farming Simulator 19 also brings new content to the franchise including new farm areas in America and Europe, new brand names for agriculture machinery include world-renowned John Deere, horse riding for a first time in the series, and new crops, machines, and more.

Online functionality is included so up to 16 can work together to expand each other’s farms. The game also heavily promotes community created mods on both PC and console, so you can always been adding new features to your farm thanks to other players creating new content.

Farming Simulator 19 released for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on Nov. 20.

Deru – The Art of Cooperation

This indie puzzler from Handy Games focuses on co-op so much, the word is in the game title itself.

Working through 70 puzzles, you and a friend in local co-op have to work together to each get to your colored outline spot. However, you can only interact with the opposite color of your icon. Communicate to work your way through complicated mazes by making paths for the other player without mistakenly touching your own color.

It’s a simple premise that mixes well with the abstract artstyle. If you are looking for a co-op title to clear your head, then Deru is a promising candidate.

Warriors Orochi 4

With the most playable characters ever in the series at 170 in total, Warrior Orochi 4 is a strategy action game that is also an official crossover between the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series.

There is two-person co-op available for both online and local play, where you can fight alongside each other throughout the entire campaign or play through additional missions in separate modes.

Warriors Orochi 4 released for PC back in October 2018, but came to Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on Nov. 27. It currently has an impressive “Very Positive” review handle on Steam, with over 1,200 reviews in total.

Battlefield V

The sixteenth installment in the Battlefield franchise released last month with tons of multiplayer modes to enjoy.

There’s combat sandboxes for up to 64 players, with seven multiplayer online modes in total. Most importantly a  brand new cooperative mode called Combined Arms that supports up to four players is included as well. In Combined Arms, there is a unique mission generator that creates objectives and narratives at random. This means there are a seemingly endless line of co-op missions for you and your friends to try. Even if the missions happen on the same map, the story and goals will be completely different.

Battlefield V’s multiplayer modes include:

• Airborne: Parachute on to the battlefield and to take on an incoming invasion.
• Breakthrough: Act as a defender as you control vital sectors as an attacker or fortify and push the enemy back.
• Conquest: Keep your tickets and control the flags in key locations on the map with up to 64 players.
• Domination: Fight the enemy in close-quarters during fast-paced, infantry-based combat.
• Final Stand: Only one team can survive as ammo and supplies run lower and lower.
• Firestorm: A Battle Royale mode where squads attempt to be the last group standing.
• Frontlines: Fight head-on in a close, symmetrical manner as you try and infiltrate the enemy base.
• Team Deathmatch: A classic mode where it’s simply kill or be killed.
• Practice Range: Keep your skills up by practicing online in the practice range.

Diablo III: Eternal Collection (Switch)

Diablo III isn’t exactly a new title, but it recently came to the Nintendo Switch via the Diablo III: Eternal Collection. The Diablo III game, Reaper of Souls expansion, and Rise of the Necromancer pack are all part of the Eternal Collection.

There’s also quite a bit of new content exclusive to the Switch version, including a Zelda Cucco companion pet, set of cosmetic wings, a Triforce portrait frame, and a transmogrification set that will let your heroes wear Ganondorf’s armor.

With local multiplayer alongside up to three friends, you can work together to fight demons as a team without the use of an Internet connection. There is also online multiplayer so your party can go head-to-head to rise in the ranks.

You can play Diablo III with a shared-screen on a single Switch, remotely on up to four different Switches, or with a combined TV and handheld play set-up.

Diablo III: Eternal Collection released for the Nintendo Switch on Nov. 2. It previously released for PS4, and Xbox One in June 2017.
