Now that the dust has settled on the pretty turbulent Overwatch 2 release, players are getting into the game and seeing all sorts of changes that have been made. The biggest is that players are finding themselves at Bronze V ranking even when they were placed highly in Overwatch 1. Here’s what you can do about the Bronze V competitive rank bug in Overwatch 2.
Fixing Bronze V Rank Overwatch 2 Bug
We need to directly state here at the top that this isn’t a bug. Every player who starts Overwatch 2 is placed at Bronze V, regardless of Overwatch 1 experience. While this certainly feels like a punishment, it’s the only way things could possibly work.
Overwatch 1 didn’t just directly translate into Overwatch 2, as you are no doubt aware. Between the Doomfist class change and the previous 6v6 modes dropping to 5v5, Overwatch 2 isn’t the same game. Due to that, it wouldn’t make sense to judge people in the new game based on the previous game’s mechanics.
The only benefit here is that, otherwise, Overwatch 2 is unchanged. If you were a dynamite player in the first game, that’s certain to be reflected in the new game’s ranked modes, and you’re certain to raise higher than someone you might only be an average player. While it’s never fun to lose the position you had in a ranked game, there is at least the chance to climb the ladder right back up again.
This is everything you need to know about what you can do about the Bronze V competitive rank bug in Overwatch 2. If you’ve been avoiding Overwatch 2 due to the controversial phone number requirement, it is being removed.
