FIFA 23 is upon us, and with it set to be the final collaboration between EA Sports and FIFA, the question of whether or not FIFA 23 is the last FIFA is making the rounds. So, we’re here to answer that question for you once and for all.
Is FIFA 23 the Last FIFA?
The short answer is that yes, FIFA 23 will be the last time it falls under this title. However, that’s because starting next year and going forward, it will be renamed to EA Sports FC. So, why is this happening?
Simply put, the long-standing partnership between EA Sports and FIFA is coming to an end. That said, EA did make it clear at the time of the announcement that the next game would include over 300 licenses across the sport.
Fans can also expect to enjoy the same game modes they’ve grown to love, such as Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, and more. Per their official statement, Cam Weber—EVP, Group GM EA SPORTS & Racing—made this clear:
“This new independent platform will bring fresh opportunity – to innovate, create and evolve. This is much more than just a change of symbol – as EA SPORTS, we’re committed to ensuring EA SPORTS FC is a symbol of change. We’re dedicated to meaningfully reinvesting in the sport, and we’re excited to work with a large and increasing number of partners to expand to new authentic experiences that bring joy, inclusivity and immersion to a global community of fans. I look forward to sharing more detail on these plans in the coming months.”
