The Gore Magala makes a return in Monster Hunter Rise when players step foot in the Sunbreak expansion. This massive elder dragon cloaked in deep purple scales can cause all sorts of problems if it isn’t dealt with properly. If you’re hoping to beat Gore Magala in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, here’s what you need to know about its weaknesses, along with an effective strategy.
How to Beat Gore Magala in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak
Gore Magala’s Weaknesses
To cause the most amount of damage against Gore Magala in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, you’ll want to bring weapons with one or both of these traits: Slashing damage and Fire. It’s also weak to Thunder and Dragon, but overall Fire is the most consistent.
With that said, you can get away with using blunt and ranged weapons; however, they aren’t as effective so you’ll need to focus entirely on attacking Gore Magala’s weakest points. Half of Gore Magala’s key areas are weak spots, like its tail and wings, but to effectively defeat this monstrous creature, you’ll focus on three specific body parts:
- Head
- Hind legs
- Forelegs
This should allow for the maximum amount of damage while still keeping you relatively safe. The head of the Gore Magala is its weakest point, too, which is weak to Fire, Thunder, and Dragon.
Watch Out For Frenzy
Whenever Gore Magala’s attacks land, you’ll be inflicted with Frenzy, which shows up as a purple haze around your character. You won’t be able to naturally heal or cure the effect, and you’ll take more damage from Gore Magala’s attacks. It’s a nasty side effect, but it can be a potentially beneficial one.
If you can manage to cure Frenzy, you’ll receive an attack boost; if not, you’ll experience a defense debuff. In order to remove Frenzy, you have to get aggressive. Start smacking away at Gore Magala until the status effect clears.
Defeating the Gore Magala
Forget defense and throw caution to the wind. Fighting Gore Magala means staying on the offensive. You can inflict the most amount of damage by attacking Gore Magala’s head, the weakest part on its body but also the riskiest move. If you’re hoping to meet an early death, then stay there.
A more effective strategy is to switch focus between its hind legs and head, only switching to its head when there’s an opening. In fact, you’ll retreat to Gore Magala’s hind legs if you’re inflicted with Frenzy, then start smacking its head when you get the attack boost from curing the status effect. Having a Follower as a distraction wouldn’t hurt either.
Deal enough damage to Gore Magala and it will enter its true form, with great big demon horns accompanying its new look. This is its second and final phase, but also when the Gore Magala is most dangerous. It’s stronger, faster, more aggressive, and inflicts Frenzy at a greater rate.
When Gore Magala is enraged, though it’s risky, you have to focus its head. When it experiences enough damage, you can break Gore Magala out of its enraged state.
And that’s all the info you need on how to beat Gore Magala in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. As threatening as Gore Magala may appear, the creature is a big softie if you can match its aggression and take advantage of the attack boost from Frenzy. It isn’t a new mechanic, but Bloodblight sure is, so read up on what it does. And if you’re hoping to find Purecrystal, we got you covered.
