How to Add Backspin & Topspin to Shots in Mario Golf Super Rush

If you’re in a bad spot on a course, sometimes a little topspin or backspin can be the difference between par or birdie (or even a dreaded bogey). Just make sure that you plan your shot ahead of time so you don’t end up putting your well-placed shot off of the green into the rough or a bunker.

Adding Topspin

Adding topspin to a shot will make it roll a little further forwards than it would without the additional rotation. You can add topspin to a shot by double-tapping the A button when you set your power on a shot. So once you hit A to start the shot, quickly press A twice when you’re stopping the shot meter.

You’ll know it works when the word topspin appears by the shot meter. And of course, your ball will also roll forwards slightly after landing.

Adding Backspin & Super Backspin

Backspin is another useful tool for modifying your shots in Mario Golf Super Rush. Just like with topspin, start your shot with the A button, then set your power by hitting B instead of A. You’ll see the word backspin appear by your shot meter. When the ball lands it will either stop abruptly or roll backward slightly.

You can also add Super Backspin by tapping B twice when setting your shot power. This will add a significant amount of backspin that can send your ball rolling backward by a dramatic amount after it lands. It can also stop a shot dead in its tracks after landing depending upon the circumstances (shot power, grass length, slopes, etc.).

Time needed: 1 minute

Here’s a quick rundown on how to add topspin or backspin to your shot in Mario Golf Super Rush:

  1. Press A to start a shot

This will start filling the power meter.

  2. Press A twice quickly to set power OR

This will add topspin to your shot.

  3. Press B to set power

This will add backspin to your shot. Pressing B twice quickly will add super backspin.
