This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Arriving just before the in-game event that’s set to reveal Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Season 5 Reloaded is live in Modern Warfare and Warzone. One of the big new additions is a mode that’s an alternative to standard Battle Royale. So that you know what you’re jumping into, here’s everything you need to know about how the King Slayer mode works in Warzone.

The King Slayer mode is easy to find in Warzone. It is a separate option underneath Battle Royale on the main section of the lobby menu.

Warzone’s King Slayer Mode Explained

King Slayer is essentially a mix between a large scale Team Deathmatch on the Verdansk map and the Most Wanted contract you’re probably familiar with.

It’s in trios only for now, but you’ll be dropped into a small section of Verdansk and the gas will slowly move around the map, as you can see in the screenshot below.

You’ll need to keep an eye out for the moving gas and try to get as many kills as possible. You can respawn as much as you want and get to choose your loadout before each life, but the area you’re playing in is much smaller than you’re used to.

The other big feature is how, as the Season 5 Reloaded reveal page says, “the top five team’s top scoring player will be marked as a ‘king’ on the Tac-Map.” You then need to kill the kings to get additional points and be awarded a free Killstreak.

Therefore, you need to decide whether it’s best to hunt the kings for more points but risk being taken out by other aggressive players, or just kill enemies who drop in near to you.

It’s not clear how long King Slayer will be featured in Warzone, but you can expect it to be around for at least most of the remainder of Season 5.

That’s everything you need to know about how the King Slayer mode works in Warzone. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to check out our wiki guides for Warzone or the base Modern Warfare game.
