There are plenty of handy items that’ll help you complete your Pokedex and aid you with your competitive team building in Pokemon Sword and Shield. The Oval Charm is one of them, and as long as you know where you’re going, it’s very easy to get. Here’s how to get the Oval Charm in Pokemon Sword and Shield, and what it does.
Getting Oval Charm in Pokemon Sword and Shield
The first thing you’ll need to do is to beat the Pokemon League — including Leon — and become the new Pokemon Champion of the Galar region.
Once you’ve done this and watched the credits roll, make your way to Circhester. The best way to do so is to open your Map from the menu and use the Flying Taxi fast travel system to get there.
From the Pokemon Center, head right until you reach a fountain in a courtyard. You want to enter the hotel on the left, here, just by the entrance that you came into this area from.
Once inside, take the elevator up to the first floor. Head left out of the elevator and into the first door that you see.
Inside you’ll find a number of NPCs, but the one you want to speak to is dressed in a police outfit. It’s Game Freak’s Moritomo, the long-running Pokemon game Easter egg.
Speak to Moritomo and he’ll be impressed by the fact you’re the new Pokemon League Champion. He’ll challenge you to a battle.
Beat him and his Lv. 65 Pokemon and he’ll reward you with the Oval Charm in Pokemon Sword and Shield for your efforts.
What Does the Oval Charm Do?
The Oval Charm increases your chances of finding a Pokemon Egg in the game’s Nursery when you’ve left two Pokemon there.
You don’t need to do anything with the Oval Charm to use it. Simply keep it in your bag and it’ll work its magic without you having to activate or interact with it. It’s just like the Shiny and Catching Charms.
Remember, you’ll want to have a Ditto and any other Pokemon, or two Pokemon of the same species. If they’re different, or one of them isn’t a Ditto, you won’t get an egg, regardless of whether you’ve got the Oval Charm or not.
That’s everything you need to know on Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Oval Charm. For more tips, tricks, and guides, you can head over to our Pokemon Sword and Shield wiki, or search for Twinfinite.
