How to Rename Pokemon in Pokemon Sword & Shield

In any Pokemon Center, at the counter to the left of the nurse will be a man who asks “Got some Pokemon questions? Feel Free to ask away.” Of his three dialog choices, select the first one, Rate a nickname. Know that you don’t need to have the Pokemon in your party to use this service.

The screen will then change to to the menu seen when accessing the Pokemon box. Press A on any of your Pokemon and choose select.

The guy will then praise you on the current nickname (no matter what it is, the dialog is always the same) but still suggest that it could be something else.

Selecting yes will take you into the same screen with a keyboard seen when naming Pokemon after catching them. All you need to do is type in the new name you want, and you’re done. This service can be used as many times as you might need and is available at every Pokemon Center throughout the Galar Region.
