This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

If you’re not living under the proverbial rock, chances are you’ve heard of a little game called Candy Crush Saga. Whether the game has enraptured you with promises of virtual candy-themed puzzle solving or taken over the lives of your friends and family, it’s safe to say it’s a pretty huge game right now. So what should a company with a wildly popular series of app games be doing? Taking legal action against other games of course!

King.com, the makers of Candy Crush Saga, recently decided to file a “Notice of Opposition” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office against the strategy game The Banner Saga and its makers, Stoic Studio. The Banner Saga is a nordic-inspired, turn-based strategy game that could not possibly be more different from Candy Crush Saga. In any case, King.com contends that, because they have 13 trademarks containing the word “saga”, The Banner Saga should not be allowed to use that word in its name.

The folks over at Kotaku recently posted up some of the legal documents pertaining to the filing, and some of the arguments against The Banner Saga are likely to crack you up. In any case, Candy Crush Saga is one step closer to total world domination. Ready yourselves, friends.
