10 Best Minecraft 1.14 Mods For the Latest Update

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Welcome to the wonderful world of Minecraft 1.14. It’s been a couple of weeks since the latest update, so it’s about time to check out some of the newest mods. Some of these mods are simply quality of life changes whereas others fundamentally change the game. No reason to keep waiting, let’s see the best Minecraft Mods for update 1.14.

Peaceful Surface Mod

Minecraft

This is one of those controversial mods that changes the fundamentals of how Minecraft works. This peaceful surface mod completely removes all enemies from the surface. That means you can still build or gather resources to your heart’s content throughout the night.

This is fantastic for people who just want to play Minecraft and enjoy a good time building on their own or with friends. Removing any danger of death lets the mind grow ripe with ideas.

There’s just one catch –you can still run into trouble when you’re digging underground. The mines are just as dangerous as ever so make sure to stay above ground and stay alive.

Stockpile Mod

Are you a hoarder that needs a better way to store all their rocks and wood? Well, this stockpile mod may be for you.

You can use barrels to store massive amounts of anything you need to hold on to. There’s also a neat little icon on each barrel which lets you know its contents. The barrels can be built into building walls to act as an ideal storage solution in your house.

It’s a simple, intuitive, and effective mod.

Right now, you can only store solid objects (sorry liquid hoarders) in these barrels. An update to enable the ability to store water in these barrels is currently in the works for a later version of the Stockpile mod.

Blockus Mod

Minecraft

Colorful and creative, this add-on is for the artsy Minecraft modder. If plain colored blocks don’t exude the style you want to fill your house, then check out this Blockus mod.

The patterns available on these blocks can make any building look royal. The ornate detail on some of these designs is unlike anything in Minecraft. You also get some basic coloring and tiling, but the special designs are incredibly well-made.

If you want to build a castle, or if you just want to add some flair to your house, this mod is for you. Most importantly, the new blocks do not replace any existing blocks. They are completely new models. You’re not losing anything for more style with the Blockus mod.

Painting Mod

Minecraft

The main idea in the Painting mod is like Blockus. It’s a purely cosmetic add-on that’s meant to add a bit of color to the world.

Where this Painting mod differs is in how you can add the colors. Instead of adding in completely new blocks, you can paint existing ones that are already placed in the world. You can also paint walls and fences to give your buildings a unique look.

When you paint, the whole piece just changes to that color. Unfortunately, it doesn’t allow for fine detail. To create some fine art, you’re going to need a massive canvas.

Level Up HP Mod

Minecraft

Looking for a mod that gives you something to work towards in combat? Look no further than the Level Up HP mod.

Instead of just claiming the spoils of war from your fallen foes, you’ll also get a bit of HP-XP. This experience gives you an additional heart each time the bar beneath your health fills up. It gives you the feeling of getting stronger through battling, which is the cornerstone of leveling systems.

Be careful if you plan on using this mod to build up your health reserves. Don’t mindlessly run around trying to slaughter everything. If you die, you’ll lose your HP-XP. Nothing is worse than losing hours of hard work.

Illuminations Mod

Minecraft

Get ready to finally enjoy nighttime in Minecraft. This Illuminations mod adds much-needed light to an otherwise dark world.

Enjoy the fireflies as you explore the brilliantly lit nights. The added light gives the game a more immersive feel instead of the typical dull void. Of course, you still need to look out for all kinds of enemies during the night.

This mod is probably best combined with the Peaceful Surface mod. With both mods, you’ll be able to see clearly in the dark without needing to worry about death. That way you can finally enjoy Minecraft when the sun goes down.

Simple Teleporters Mod

Minecraft

It’s all in the name. The Simple Teleporters mod lets you pick a spot on the map and then teleport there.

The mod is easy to use, but there is a bit of setup. You still need to craft the Teleporters and an Ender Crystal to get started warping around the map. Below you’ll find the recipes for creating both necessary elements for this mod.

Ender Crystal:Minecraft

Teleporter:Minecraft

Once everything is set up, it’s as easy as jumping on the teleportation pad while holding a crystal, then right click and you’re off to the races. Flying around is fast but being able to pop around the map wherever you please is even better.

Fence Jumper Mod

Minecraft

Rules are made to be broken, and fences are made to be jumped over. The Fence Jumper mod will let you do exactly that.

It may seem like a small change, but freedom of navigation is huge in any game. Enabling fence jumping lets you hop over the obstacle in one leap.

It’s highly preferable as opposed to going around a fence you’ve built and can cut off a considerable amount of travel time if you have many fences.

No need to fear your enemies, they’re not given the same ability with this mod. You and your plants will be safe within a fence. This could even be used to quickly put up a fence if you’re being pursued on foot. Just pop up a fence and hop on over out of reach.

Stats Keeper Mod

Minecraft

This Stats Keeper mod is a must-have for almost any Minecraft player. With Stats Keeper you will not lose anything when you die.

This mod certainly makes the game much easier, but it also makes dying less devastating. There’s no reason for death to be so punishing in a game like Minecraft. Without the fear of loss, you can feel free to fully enjoy exploring the whole map.

Also, this mod combined with the Level Up HP mod is a great one-two punch. The biggest drawback of that add-on was the loss of XP. Using Stats Keeper removes that single blemish. Overall, this mod makes Minecraft a more relaxing experience.

AnimalNet Mod

Minecraft

Gotta catch ‘em all! Oh, and I mean all. The AnimalNet mod is what it sounds like plus a couple of unexpected features.

First, you need to create the net. Below you can find a recipe for a basic small animal net.

Minecraft

You can catch animals of any size if you have the right size net. What’s even more interesting is that you can capture enemies, NPCs and store them in your inventory. There’s no rhyme or reason to this whole thing but running around capturing everything is a fun time waster.

If you really want to you could even do a no-kill playthrough of Minecraft. You could capture some Creepers and release them down into a mine and seal them in. Problem solved.
