Having a weapon out and at the ready is a pretty good idea in any battle royale game. After all, you never know when an opponent is going to run into your line of sights while trying to escape the ever-enclosing circle. Sometimes, though, it pays off to put away weapons if you’re not in combat. Here’s how to put away weapons in Apex Legends.

You’ll always have access to two (technically three) weapons in Apex Legends. You’ll be able to carry two guns such as Assault Rifles, SMGs, Pistols, and Sniper Rifles, and you’ll also have your melee attack, too.

Carrying these out and equipped with you is always useful, as it means you’re always ready for a battle, but if you put them away in Apex Legends, you’ll be able to run faster. Particularly handy for those times when you’re trying to escape the circle.

To put away weapons in Apex Legends, simply press and hold Y on the Xbox One or Triangle on the PS4. For PC players, you simply need to press ‘3’ on your keyboard and your character will holster their weapons and sprint faster.

You don’t actually have to do anything to run faster once you’ve holstered your weapons outside of sprinting as you normally would in Apex Legends. That’s pressing down on the left analog stick on PS4 and Xbox One, and pressing and holding down Shift on PC.

That’s all you need to know on how to put away weapons in Apex Legends. For more tips, tricks, and guides on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite. We’ve also included some of our most popular guides down below.
