Thunderlord is the first exotic machine gun to be added to Destiny 2, which marked the return of the popular class of guns since the first game and kick off the Season of the Forge. The gun got a big buff going from the first game to Destiny 2, but the event to get it ended so it’s no wonder why many people are wondering how to get Thunderlord in Destiny 2 after Festival of the Lost.

What makes Thunderlord a little more confusing than other exotics is that it was available during Festival of the Lost event which ran through October and November. If you completed the Cryptarch murder mystery quest line to its completion, you would be rewarded with a free Thunderlord.

However, that quest is gone, and you can’t get the exotic machine gun that way anymore. This might have you worried that you’ll never get your hands on it, or that you’ll have to wait until next Halloween but luckily that’s not the case.

You can still get Thunderlord in Destiny 2, but if you didn’t complete the timed Festival of the Lost quest, you missed your chance to have one essentially handed to you since the quest was extremely easy.

Now, you’ll have to go and pray to the RNG gods like you do any other exotic weapon. The only way to get it as by getting an exotic engram drop, and then hoping it ends up being the weapon that you want. Xur used to be a way to get exotics, but our tentacle friend seems content on only ever selling year one exotics at this point.

One way to get some forced exotic drop chances is by doing the raid, where opening certain chests have a chance of giving you an exotic, although again, there’s no way to force to to be Thunderlord. You could get a repeat one, although Bungie has taken steps to reduce the amount of times that happens.

That does it for how to get Thunderlord in Destiny 2 after Festival of the Lost. Hopefully you get it soon! Check out our wiki guide for more tips and tricks about year two of Destiny 2.
