How to Improve Turret Targeting in Fallout 76
Here’s everything you need to know about how to improve turret targeting in Fallout 76.
With the introduction of PvP in Fallout 76, Bethesda introduced a lot of new mechanics to keep things interesting, including Workshops. These claimable areas provide valuable materials, produced every hour for as long as you hold them.
The catch with claiming a Workshop is that it must be defended from in-game enemies, that means both AI and other players. If you lose the area, you have to fight to get it back or risk losing all of your supplies.
One of the most efficient methods of defending a Workshop is by placing turrets all around it. By doing so, you don’t even have to be in the area in order to repel attackers, not to mention it gives you some extra site line coverage.
But these devices don’t work perfectly, as many players have complained that the targeting system has difficulty finding and killing AI enemies. Thanks to Reddit user Arcanum3000, this won’t be as much as a problem anymore.
Adding Spotlights
In a thread posted to the Fallout 76 subreddit, Arcanum3000 revealed that the easiest way to improve turret targeting for AI is to simply add a spotlight.
“Spotlights are much better at targeting enemies, and when a spotlight targets something all the turrets with line-of-sight will also target it. As a result, a few spotlights will dramatically increase the effectiveness of your turrets. A couple heavy laser turrets coupled with a spotlight will melt enemies at pretty extreme ranges.”
The only problem that some found with this is that spotlights use a quite a bit of budget for most Workshops. If you can swing it though, throwing in a few of them will work wonders when it comes to defending in PvE situations.
Also, keep in mind that some of the lights might seem like they turn off if you leave the area. This is a bug though so don’t worry, the lights are still working.
