How to Make Friends with a Deathclaw in Fallout 76
- Open up your map and locate the yellow circle on your map.
- Head here to find a Deathclaw wandering around in the vicinity.
- Walk over to it and press A on Xbox One or X on PS4 to ‘Interact’ with it.
- You’ll now have made friends with a Deathclaw and can either kill it, or flee.
Well, I bet you never thought you’d be looking up how to make friends with a Deathclaw in Fallout 76, because when Rose told us that’s what we needed to do in the ‘Flavors of Mayhem’ quest, we certainly looked at our screens puzzled. Well, fear not, because while it’s certainly a daunting task to undertake in the game, it’s by no means difficult. Here’s what you need to know to fulfill this task and make it out alive.
The ‘Flavors of Mayhem’ quest is a pretty arduous one. It’s basically the psychopath Rose’s way of seeing what you’re made of, while also giving you a lesson in the different Raider factions that she once knew so well. One of the latter tasks you’ll need to complete is to ‘make friends with a Deathclaw.’ This doesn’t involve you riding on the back of a Deathclaw in Fallout 76, sadly, but how awesome would that be? Instead, it’s a pretty simple thing you’ve got to do.
First off, when you get this part of the ‘Flavors of Mayhem’ quest, open up your map. Look out for the yellow circle here, as this indicates where you need to go in order to easily find a Deathclaw wandering around.
Once you reach here, just make sure to actually spot where the Deathclaw is. Do not fire at this formidable creature, no matter how badly your instincts are telling you to. That’s not how you make friends with anything, never mind one of the most deadly creatures in the wasteland.
Instead, you’re going to walk over to it. With a bit of luck, the Deathclaw won’t immediately chase you down. Once you’re close enough, it’s simply a case of pressing X on PS4, or A on Xbox One to ‘interact’ with the Deathclaw in Fallout 76. Upon doing so, you’ll have officially made friends with it. Well, your friendship lasts for about three seconds and now you need to get the hell away.
‘Flavors of Mayhem’ now tasks you with either killing the creature, or fleeing from it and surviving. Actually, it doesn’t matter if you die as long as you’ve ‘made friends’ with it. Fallout 76 deems your death as safely fleeing, and you’ll have completed this part of the quest.
